From WC2026 to Season 2: Building SDF's Next Chapter The conclusion of WC2026 marked more than the end of the largest football tournament of the year; it also marked the end of one of SDF's biggest competitive campaigns to date. Throughout July, the platform closed one chapter while beginning another, introducing changes that extend beyond individual features and instead reshape how rewards, participation and long-term progression interact across the ecosystem. From record reward distributions and new utility for $FUN to the first details of Season 2, July was defined less by isolated product releases than by a series of connected improvements designed to strengthen the foundations of the platform ahead of the new football and NFL seasons. A WC2026 Campaign at Scale The first-ever SDF WC2026 campaign concluded after several weeks of competition across both Pro and Free-to-Play, becoming the platform's largest rewards initiative to date. Across the tournament, SDF distributed: More than 46 million Tournament Points, representing approximately $1.85 million in value. $75,000 in $FUN rewards. More than $30,000 in Free-to-Play prizes. All F2P Winners have been contacted via email, and we are currently in the process of sorting out their prizes. Those figures represent more than headline numbers. Running a campaign of this scale provided valuable insight into player behavior, platform performance, and reward mechanics under sustained demand. Many of the changes announced during July are informed directly by those observations and are intended to improve both the competitive experience and the long-term health of the ecosystem. Strengthening the Role of $FUN The most significant structural changes announced during the month centered on the continued evolution of $FUN Seasons. Beginning today, on the 31st of July, weekly Season rewards are moving beyond a model based solely on token holdings. While 60% of weekly rewards will continue to be distributed according to eligible $FUN holdings, the remaining 40% will now be allocated based on eligible positive net spend within the SDF Pro player market. The adjustment reflects a broader philosophy that ownership and participation should complement one another. Holding $FUN remains fundamental to the ecosystem, but active engagement through the player market now forms a meaningful part of the weekly rewards framework. Rather than replacing the existing model, the update expands it to recognize both long-term commitment and constructive activity. That same philosophy underpins the introduction of Manager Buybacks, which will begin as an initial test alongside the first reward claims under the updated Seasons structure. Eligible managers will have the opportunity to exchange a portion of their earned $FUN for Gold directly within the application at a better-than-market rate. Individual redemption limits will be determined by each manager's share of that week's final $FUN rewards, while participation remains entirely optional. Several safeguards have been built into the system. Buybacks will only be available during selected Seasons, every transaction will require a live safe-price quotation before confirmation, and $FUN will never be exchanged automatically. Any unused redemption allocations may also roll into future Seasons at the discretion of the SDF team. Viewed independently, Manager Buybacks are a new rewards feature. Viewed within the context of the wider platform, they represent another step towards creating a more connected economic model. Participation generates rewards, rewards create additional utility, and that utility can be reinvested into the player market, creating a continuous relationship between gameplay, ownership and long-term engagement. Bringing SDF Beyond the Platform July also marked an important milestone away from the product itself. We announced that we will serve as the official headline sponsor of @ff_fest, taking place in London on 21–22 August. Throughout the event, the team will produce live content, meet members of the community and showcase upcoming developments ahead of the start of the European football season. The partnership reflects a broader ambition to establish SDF as an active participant within the fantasy sports community rather than simply a digital platform. As the product continues to evolve, building relationships with managers both online and in person becomes an increasingly important part of that strategy. Looking Towards Season 2 Many of the initiatives announced during July serve as early building blocks for what comes next. In outlining the strategic direction of Season 2, our founder, @AdamFDF_, described a development philosophy centered on refining the core experience rather than replacing it. The principle remains unchanged, but the systems supporting that vision are becoming significantly more sophisticated. Among the priorities currently in development are: A substantial redesign of the user experience, simplifying player selection, trading and overall navigation. Continued improvements to market health, alongside internal system upgrades designed to deploy buybacks more intelligently and reduce unnecessary volatility. A new Reputation system recognizing consistent, long-term participation and skill. Limited-player pack releases connected to the upcoming Scouting system. A Season Pass introducing premium functionality, including cosmetic upgrades and an integrated AI assistant. Although each initiative addresses a different aspect of the platform, they share a common objective: making SDF more intuitive for new managers while providing greater depth for experienced ones without compromising the long-term sustainability of the player economy. NFL is Almost Back While the football calendar enters a brief transition period, preparations are already underway for the NFL's return. SDF will support the Hall of Fame Game together with all three preseason weeks. Picks will return using loan players under preseason-specific rules, with curated player pools designed around expected playing time rather than full regular-season availability. Alongside preseason competition, previously earned off-season Tournament Points will begin unlocking from Pre-season Week 1 onwards at a rate of one-sixteenth of each manager's remaining balance per week. Draft reward allocations have also now been finalized, ensuring subsequent trading activity will no longer affect those distributions. Community participation will extend beyond competition itself. Beginning on 3 August, Mystery Player voting returns, allowing managers to determine which players will arrive on the platform first. Voting power will continue to be determined by FUN Level, while every participant will receive early access, with additional priority awarded to managers who supported the successful candidates. Looking Forward The developments announced throughout July share a common theme. Rather than introducing disconnected features, they strengthen the relationships between participation, ownership, rewards and progression that define the SDF experience. WC2026 demonstrated the platform's ability to support large-scale competition. The changes to $FUN Seasons and the introduction of Manager Buybacks deepen the token's role within that ecosystem. The roadmap for Season 2 outlines the next stage of product development, while preparations for Fantasy Football Fest and the NFL preseason mark the beginning of another busy period for the community. As the new football season approaches, the focus is not on changing what SDF is, but on refining the systems that make it work. July represented an important step in that process, and many of the initiatives introduced over the past month will continue to evolve throughout the remainder of the year.
