more on Thursday’s Custom Pairs update: we've already seen a few cases where an established memecoin that's been stagnant for a while gets a second wind thanks to new coins being paired with it we’ve seen this play out for years: a new token launches, defines a meta, only to slow bleed once all catalysts are exhausted. now, custom pairs are a second chance, and in some cases, a new life. furthermore, if the token spawns a small ecosystem of paired tokens, its vampability decreases significantly; vamping an ecosystem of tokens which all contribute to the main runner is much harder than a strong token on its own I look forward to seeing this play out on a larger scale!

    Metal Pay (@metalpaysme)

Crypto News - 9 October 2026 The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission proposed a new regulatory framework on October 5 that would allow cryptocurrency exchanges offering leveraged or margined trading to operate under federal oversight. The proposal introduces a category of regulated venues called crypto asset markets, with requirements covering proof of reserves, market manipulation safeguards and customer protections. Exchanges could opt into this framework rather than relying primarily on separate state money-transmitter licenses. The move follows Congress's failure to advance broader crypto market legislation and represents another attempt to establish clearer rules for digital asset trading. However, the proposed framework remains subject to the regulatory process and does not replace comprehensive legislation. Samsung Brings USDC Payments to Galaxy Wallets Samsung announced plans this week to introduce USDC stablecoin transfers directly through Samsung Wallet and Samsung Pay for eligible Galaxy users in the United States. The service, scheduled to begin rolling out in late October, will use blockchain infrastructure including Solana to support cross-border payments without requiring a separate cryptocurrency application. Users will be able to transfer USDC to compatible wallets and send funds to eligible bank accounts in more than 60 countries, with local currency conversion available. The initiative involves infrastructure provider Bastion and Coinbase, which will support custody services. Samsung's announcement highlights the growing integration of stablecoins into everyday financial applications and consumer payment systems. NYSE Parent Backs 24/7 Tokenized Stock Trading OKXICE, a joint venture between cryptocurrency exchange OKX and New York Stock Exchange parent Intercontinental Exchange, disclosed plans on October 5 for a regulated tokenized stock trading platform in the United States. The proposed venue would initially support blockchain-based versions of shares in more than 60 publicly listed companies, allowing round-the-clock trading and potentially faster settlement. Tokenized shares would retain traditional shareholder rights, including dividends and voting, under the proposed structure. The initiative builds on a new SEC innovation exemption designed to support regulated experimentation with blockchain-based securities. The platform has not yet launched and remains subject to regulatory conditions, but the announcement signals growing interest from established financial market operators in tokenization. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs opened Monday with USD 89.8 million in net outflows, as withdrawals from ARK 21Shares' ARKB (USD 85.2 million) and Fidelity's FBTC (USD 74.5 million) outweighed BlackRock's IBIT inflows of USD 69.9 million. Tuesday brought a reversal with USD 118.8 million in net inflows, led by IBIT (USD 122.0 million). Wednesday recorded the week's heaviest selling at USD 484.9 million in net outflows, driven by IBIT (USD 207.7 million), FBTC (USD 105.1 million) and ARKB (USD 101.7 million). Thursday extended the decline with another USD 244.1 million leaving the funds, including USD 197.1 million from FBTC. Overall, Bitcoin ETFs recorded approximately USD 700.0 million in net outflows across Monday through Thursday, signaling renewed institutional selling pressure. Friday's figures remain incomplete and are awaiting final issuer reporting, including IBIT. U.S. spot Ethereum ETFs began Monday with USD 50.8 million in net outflows, led by BlackRock's ETHA (USD 31.9 million) and Fidelity's FETH (USD 18.9 million). Selling accelerated Tuesday as ETHA recorded USD 201.9 million in withdrawals, bringing the day's net outflow to USD 201.9 million. Wednesday remained under pressure with USD 160.9 million in net outflows, driven by ETHA (USD 116.1 million) and Grayscale's ETHE (USD 25.8 million), alongside smaller withdrawals across other funds. Thursday saw another USD 72.5 million leave the market, although Fidelity's FETH attracted USD 5.5 million in inflows. Overall, Ethereum ETFs registered approximately USD 486.1 million in net outflows from Monday through Thursday, reflecting persistent institutional selling throughout the week. Friday's figures remain incomplete and are awaiting final issuer reporting. Cardano (ADA) led this week's tracked assets with a modest 0.8% gain, followed by Metal DAO (MTL), up 0.2%, and Metal Blockchain (METAL), up 0.1%. These were the only three assets in the tracked group to finish the seven-day period in positive territory. Loan Protocol (LOAN) declined 1.6%, while Bitcoin (BTC) slipped 2.3% and XPR Network (XPR) fell 3.5%. Larger losses were recorded across several major cryptocurrencies, including Ethereum (-6.7%), Solana (-7.5%) and Hedera (-8.4%). The broad pullback coincided with heavy outflows from U.S. spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs, although market sentiment remained in Greed territory. The Crypto Fear & Greed Index stood at 59 on October 9, down from 72 a week earlier, suggesting optimism had cooled despite the index remaining above neutral.

I have just concluded a highly successful discussion with President Vladimir Putin, of Russia, wherein it was agreed that Russia will immediately supply over 300,000 Tons of Diesel Fuel to the American and Global Marketplace, another 500,000 Tons during the month of November, and 1,000,000 Tons immediately thereafter. Additionally, based on the condition of their Diesel Refineries, Russia will then deliver, within a short period of time, 3,000,000 Tons of Diesel Fuel. Between our TOTAL CONTROL of the Strait of Hormuz, and this great announcement on Russian Energy, Diesel Prices for Americans and, indeed, the World, will be COMING DOWN, IN RECORD NUMBERS, AND FAST! Lower prices for Americans, especially our Great Farmers, Ranchers, and Truckers, is my Greatest Priority. This is a very big and important announcement. Additionally, it must be understood, that Iran will not have a Nuclear Weapon! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP

BAM Changelog — Sept 23-Oct 9 Action Required: Alpenglow Is Coming — Run Jito-Solana v4.3.0-jito.0 during transition period Alpenglow mainnet activation is approaching in mid-October (per latest Solana Foundation / Anza information). BAM has been tested on Testnet and on the dedicated Alpenglow test cluster, including transaction and bundle traffic across Jito-Solana clients during activation, and Jito will keep operating a BAM node on the Alpenglow test cluster. The confirmed activation epoch, maintenance timing, minimum supported version, and restoration updates will be published through Discord announcements. Read the blog post. What to expect during activation: All mainnet BAM Nodes will be placed in Maintenance Mode during the days leading up to activation. Validators connected to BAM revert to ordinary Jito-Agave Block Engine mode. BAM-native features, MPP (Maker Priority Plugin) and BAM DBI (Direct Bundle Ingest), are unavailable during this period; Block Engine bundles continue to work as usual. After activation, BAM nodes are brought back online gradually while performance is monitored. Validator actions before activation: Upgrade to a supported Jito-Solana release: We currently recommend v4.3.0-jito.01 and will confirm the minimum supported version before activation. Do not run a production validator built with dev-context-only-utils (DCOU): It will be forked off during activation. Do not run FireBAM or FrankenBAM during the Alpenglow transition: After activation, use version 26.10 or later; 26.09 is not Alpenglow-ready. During the transition, we recommend switching over to v4.3.0-jito.1 of the Agave-based client. During the transition window: Validators, FullSend users, and standard Block Engine bundle users: No action required. MPP users: Submit oracle updates via TPU or Block Engine. DBI users: Use the legacy Block Engine bundle-submission path. Current mainnet-beta minimum versions are unchanged: Operator FAQ from the community: Can I run Jito during the Alpenglow transition? Yes. Run Jito Agave (jito-solana) as usual. Only Block Engine mode is enabled during the transition, not BAM. If your validator is normally connected to BAM it will gracefully fall back to Block Engine mode when BAM nodes enter Maintenance Mode, and BAM nodes are re-enabled once they are healthy after activation. Which version will be required for the Alpenglow transition? Anza and the Solana Foundation have not yet specified the mainnet transition version. Watch the validator-announcements channel for updates. 200ms Slots The slot time reduction to 200ms will be active at Epoch 1053, approximately 15:00 UTC on Friday, October 9. Anyone running Jito Agave on mainnet is strongly encouraged to be on v4.3.0-jito.0, which has the best performance optimizations. To verify, run solana --version and confirm: solana-cli 4.3.0 (src:c21f9074; feat:c9ad34d2, client:JitoLabs) BAM's auction cadence is derived from slot length and will tighten automatically from 25ms to 20ms rounds. No BAM configuration change is required. Releases Jito-Solana v4.3.0-jito.0 (October 2) is the recommended mainnet release. Jito-Solana v4.4.0-beta.0-jito (September 29) is the recommended testnet release. FireBAM v26.09.5 (September 30) is the recommended mainnet and testnet release. Network Adoption BAM now secures 164M SOL across 385 connected validators, 37% of total network stake as of Epoch 1050. FireBAM reached a new all-time high of 7.3M SOL across 12 connected validators, 4.6% of total BAM stake. BAM celebrated its one-year mainnet anniversary on September 25. Performance Continued performance upgrades and optimizations to BAM's bundle ingestion pipeline have kept BAM's block packing and rewards competitive, with average rewards and compute units per block ranking in the top three across clients on daily, 5-day, and longer timeframes. Measured across Epochs 1041 through 1050, FireBAM validators averaged 101.6 percent of the AgaveBAM cohort for compute units per block and 93.2 percent for rewards per block. FireBAM's skip rate was 0.036 percent, compared with 0.040 percent for AgaveBAM, with seven of ten epochs recording zero skipped FireBAM slots. BAM blocks continue to be fuller than the network: 10.5 percent of AgaveBAM blocks were classified as small, compared with 13.4 percent network-wide and 17.2 percent for non-BAM jito-agave. Performance work shipped or root-caused in this window: A Linux kernel networking (BBR) behavior that delayed the first slot of some leader windows by 90–330ms was root-caused. A first-batch padding mitigation is live, and a kernel fix is in the TEE pipeline. A periodic 7–17 percent slowdown of BAM TEE hosts caused by host memory compaction was root-caused and is being fixed with a host setting change. A false-sharing fix delivered a roughly 20 percent latency cut in replay, alongside memory allocator improvements. Block Engine bundles are now forwarded directly to nearby BAM nodes in every region. Pruning of low-quality Block Engine search keys raised BAM tips per block by 15.5 percent. BAM Registry The BAM Registry has run on testnet for over two weeks without anomalous behavior. A jito-solana validator has connected end-to-end through registry discovery, with cached-list fallback and failover validated. Validator-side discovery is merged on jito-solana master. Mainnet enrollment is targeted for late October, and FireBAM integration follows TLS work currently in progress. Attestations BAM Attestations: Road to Transparency is now published on bam.dev (September 28), covering the attestation update our Engineering Lead gave at the Solana Validator Community Call. BAM nodes that fail attestation are excluded from the fleet, and BAM TEE guests provide no shell access by design. Third-Party BAM Operators Early cohort of Third Party Operators are currently being onboarded to BAM testnet, with the goal of coming online in the coming weeks. Ecosystem Preconfirmation revenue distribution to validators is live: validators are opted in automatically, and the first payouts arrive this month. BAM validators continue to earn 35% of preconfirmation revenue. MPP now supports Transaction V1 and more than 64 markets per program, up to 256. PropAMMs route roughly 80 percent of their updates through MPP. The Jito Bundle Explorer now shows bundles sent during BAM leader rotations. JIP-39 JIP-39 changes are live. The BAM Boost subsidy formula has been updated with new effective-stake bands and a 2% pool-share ceiling, and subsidy claim windows were extended from 10 to 20 epochs. The Jito-operated, JitoSOL Prime validator was onboarded to the stake pool on October 5. Over Epochs 1041 through 1050, ~1,750 SOL in BAM Boost rewards was distributed to roughly 360 validators.
