THE BLOCK: Liquid Network’s audit dashboard shows just 3,626.8 BTC backing 4,229.33 LBTC in circulation, putting solvency at 85.75%. The roughly 602.5 BTC shortfall mostly lines up with the amount retained by the attacker.

Last week in Bitcoin: → BTC fell roughly 2.9% on the week to about $63,000, ETF outflows and policy delay weighed on sentiment. → Lombard moved $LBTC's yield engine to a covered-call options strategy managed by Bitwise, targeting 2.5% net APY. → Goldman Sachs agreed to acquire options-ETF manager NEOS for up to $2.25 billion. → BlackRock cut IBIT's in-kind conversion and redemption minimum from $25M to $1M. → US spot Bitcoin ETFs swung to a net weekly outflow near $390 million, reversing the prior week's $853 million of inflows. → Strategy (MSTR) remained a net seller, disclosing the sale of 1,690 BTC to fund STRC preferred buybacks while holdings sit at 840,447 BTC. → Metaplanet quashed a $320 million sale rumor, launched a BitBonds debt program to fund future buys. → Bitcoin's BIP-110 data-restriction soft fork opened its signaling window but drew only ~2% miner support.

Lombard Is Live on Aave V4: The World's Largest Lending Protocol Just Got an Upgrade Lombard has launched a dedicated Spoke within V4’s hub-and-spoke architecture. Meaning LBTC can be used as collateral to borrow from a core liquidity hub, with new collateral rules, risk parameters, and liquidation logic for users borrowing against LBTC collateral. A First Worth Celebrating When LBTC was listed on Aave in January 2025, it made history: the first and only yield-bearing Bitcoin ever to land on the world's largest lending protocol. No other yield-bearing Bitcoin has followed. Since then, the market has spoken. Consistently, $200–300 million in LBTC has been deployed on Aave as collateral, making it one of the most popular destinations for LBTC in all of DeFi, month after month. Bitcoin holders found something they wanted: the ability to use their BTC as collateral, while continuing to earn Bitcoin-on-Bitcoin yield. With V4, it gets significantly better. What Aave V4 Actually Is Aave is the largest decentralized finance protocol with $47 billion in net deposits. Aave V4 is the result of two and a half years of research and development. At the core of Aave V4 is a hub-and-spoke architecture that allows distinct financial markets to operate with their own parameters and asset types while remaining connected through a shared liquidity and risk framework. This design allows risk to be priced more precisely at the collateral level, aligning borrowing costs with underlying exposure and improving capital efficiency. The original Aave model was a single unified lending pool. Pioneering when it launched, but it created a structural tension over time: every new asset and market type added complexity and risk to the same shared system. Customization meant fragmentation. Innovation meant exposure. V4 resolves this with a hub-and-spoke architecture. A central liquidity hub concentrates capital. Individual spokes connect to it with their own collateral rules, risk parameters, and liquidation logic — each operating as a distinct market while drawing on shared liquidity from day one. Partners can launch specialised lending markets on top of Aave's existing liquidity without bootstrapping their own deposits. V4 launches on Ethereum mainnet with three Hubs and ten Spokes. It's accessed through Aave Pro — a new interface at Aave.com built specifically for V4's architecture. What It Means for LBTC Within V4's architecture, Lombard has a dedicated spoke — its own market with parameters built for a Bitcoin-native asset. The spoke currently includes LBTC, with a view to BTC.b being added in the near term. Today, LBTC holders earn 0.38% APY denominated in Bitcoin, staking yield accruing directly in BTC terms. There are two core use cases: LBTC Looping: Borrowing BTC wrappers against LBTC, and acquiring more LBTC - effectively leveraging the LBTC position and Bitcoin-on-Bitcoin yield by capturing the spread between WBTC or cbBTC borrow cost and LBTC APY. Borrowing Stables: Borrowing against a yield-bearing LBTC collateral. Using LBTC as collateral unlocks additional capital efficiency for borrowers, as their collateral is not just sitting idle but accumulates Bitcoin yield in the meantime. In simple terms, LBTC yield is subsidising the borrowing costs for the user. Where This Goes Next V4's architecture doesn't just improve the current experience — it expands what's possible for Bitcoin capital markets. The hub-and-spoke design creates room for markets genuinely fit for purpose: institutional custody configurations, fixed-rate lending, structured credit products, non-standard collateral types. The design surface for Bitcoin-native financial markets just got dramatically larger. Bitcoin's market cap is approaching $1.3 trillion. The vast majority of it still sits idle. LBTC exists to change that — turning Bitcoin from a store of value into a productive onchain asset, without compromising what makes it Bitcoin. Get Started LBTC is available now on Aave V4. Head to Aave.com, navigate to Aave Pro, connect your wallet, and find the LBTC market. Your Bitcoin should be working. 🟠

Season 3: The Lux Points Program Evolves Two seasons of Lux have done their job. They bootstrapped liquidity, built an active community, and rewarded thousands of participants for doing what matters most: putting Bitcoin to work onchain. The program onboarded over $3B in previously idle BTC to onchain finance, and established LBTC as the leading liquid staked Bitcoin token across 15 chains. Season 3 takes everything that worked and makes it sharper. It allocates 1% of the total $BARD supply to Lux participants over four months, from March 18 to July 23. The core of the program remains the same: earn Lux by deploying Lombard assets across DeFi. But the scope, the structure, and the assets eligible for rewards are all evolving. Season 3 is narrower, more focused, and built around the activity that actually grows the onchain ecosystem. Season 3 at a Glance Duration: March 18 to July 23, 2026 (4 months) Allocation: 1% (1,000,000) of total $BARD supply Eligible assets: LBTC and BTC.b deployed on whitelisted chains and protocols Holding rewards: None. Lux is earned exclusively through deployment and DeFi activity. Bitcoin Earn: Rewards distributed as streaming $BARD, not through Lux claims Eligible chains and protocols (this list will evolve throughout the season): Chains: Ethereum, Solana, Avalanche, MegaETH, Base Protocols: DEX Liquidity & Others (e.g., restaking): Uniswap, Curve, Fluid, Aerodrome, Meteora, Etherfi Lending Collateral: Aave v3/4, Morpho, Spark, Fluid, Euler, Juplend, Kamino Bitcoin Earn & Lombard Strategies Whitelisted chains and protocols will change throughout the season. Find up to date information at on the Lombard App here: https://www.lombard.finance/app/dashboard/. Season 3 will be live from March 18. No gap, no downtime. If you were earning in Season 2, you'll continue to earn in Season 3 if your assets are deployed on eligible chains and protocols. If you're new to the Lux program, this is the season to start. Deploy your LBTC and BTC.b across eligible protocols, and start accumulating Lux in the most focused and rewarding season yet. What's Changing and Why Seasons 1 and 2 cast a wide net. The goal was to incentivize broad adoption of LBTC across as many protocols and chains as possible, and by that measure, they succeeded. But as the ecosystem has matured, it's become clear which types of activity generate the most lasting impact: collateral deployment on high-quality lending markets, active participation in DeFi, and sustained commitment over time. Season 3 shifts from breadth to depth. The rewards structure is now concentrated on fewer, higher-impact actions, providing DEX liquidity, lending collateral, and Lombard’s strategies including Bitcoin Earn. The most significant change: Season 3 will not reward passive holding of LBTC or BTC.b. In previous seasons, participants earned Lux simply by holding LBTC. That served its purpose during the early growth phase, helping bootstrap adoption and build a broad base of holders. But holding without deploying doesn't advance Lombard's mission of making Bitcoin the most widely used productive asset in onchain finance. Starting in Season 3, Lux is earned exclusively through activity on leading venues. Deploying LBTC or BTC.b on eligible chains and DeFi protocols and participating in Bitcoin Earn. Idle assets don't earn. Deployed and productive assets do. The data from two seasons made this clear: LBTC has consistently maintained a 70+% utility rate in DeFi. The participants who deploy, who collateralize, who actively participate in DeFi are the ones who create the most value. Season 3 is built to reward them accordingly. BTC.b Enters the Lux Ecosystem Users deploying BTC.b across eligible chains and protocols earn Lux. This is one of the most significant additions to the program since launch. BTC.b holders now have a direct path into the Lux rewards ecosystem alongside LBTC deployers. If you hold BTC.b and deploy it on eligible protocols, you earn. If you hold both LBTC and BTC.b and deploy both, you're earning on both. Since the acquisition of BTC.b, Lombard's product suite has expanded, and Season 3 brings that expansion into the incentive layer. Bitcoin Earn Bitcoin Earn is Lombard's automated yield product, designed to generate competitive Bitcoin-on-Bitcoin returns between 3-5% across market conditions, from a single deposit. Starting in Season 3, Bitcoin Earn transitions from Lux-based incentives to streaming $BARD rewards directly to participants. This shift makes Bitcoin Earn universally compatible with a wider range of distribution partners, including wallets, exchanges, and FinTechs. Bitcoin Earn participants will receive $BARD rewards on an ongoing basis rather than accumulating Lux for a future claim. The multiplier has also increased from 4x to 6x, reflecting the strategic importance of the Bitcoin Earn product to Lombard’s product suite. The community has spoken. SNIP-31 is officially ratified. Bitcoin staking is coming to Starknet, with the following parameters: - BTC staking power weight set at 0.25, giving BTC up to 25% influence in consensus power, with the rest allocated to STRK - WBTC, LBTC, tBTC, and SolvBTC approved for staking on Starknet - Governance rules for approving new BTC wrappers are now set The official launch will take place in the coming weeks.

Bitcoin Staking on Starknet, Community Vote opens in 3 days 🗳️ A major proposal is on the table: SNIP-31 introduces a new BTC staking mechanism on Starknet. If passed, it will allow BTC holders to lock their tokenized BTC (WBTC, LBTC, tBTC, SolvBTC) directly on Starknet and earn STRK rewards, without affecting the current STRK APR. This upgrade includes: - A BTC staking weight (alpha) set at 0.25, giving BTC holders up to 25% influence in consensus power. - A curated list of BTC wrappers eligible for staking, governed through community votes and Monetary Committee approvals. - A clear separation of STRK and BTC reward dynamics. This is a critical moment for the network: it defines how Bitcoin integrates into Starknet’s staking and governance framework. As with previous SNIPs, your vote matters. To participate, make sure to: - Wrap your STRK into vSTRK and delegate or self-delegate your voting power on the Governance Hub (this allows you to keep your STRK liquid) - Or stake your STRK directly (21-day unlock applies if you want to unstake). If you don’t complete one of these before the vote opens, you won’t be able to vote. More details on SNIP-31 below 👇
