Stripe and Advent Reportedly Offer $53 Billion to Acquire PayPal According to Reuters, Stripe and Advent International have offered to acquire PayPal for $60.50 per share, valuing the payments giant at more than $53 billion. The offer is backed by around $50 billion in committed financing and represents a roughly 28% premium to PayPal's latest closing price. Sources said the parties are aiming to reach an agreement by the end of July, though there is no certainty a deal will be completed. Stripe has increasingly focused on stablecoin infrastructure and crypto payments, while PayPal launched PYUSD in 2023 and has become one of the largest regulated stablecoin issuers.

Agentic payments gave agents a reason to exist a single narrative hit critical mass in ~48 hours: Agentic payments → @stripe + Tempo launched the Machine Payments Protocol. → World dropped AgentKit. → WorldLibertyFi pushed AgentPay. → Brian Armstrong started asking when agents replace human payments. That coordination is what pulled the whole sector up. Then it spilled outside crypto. → Mainstream accounts amplified it @BernieSanders using Claude to talk about AI privacy pulled ~7M impressions. Trump Jr promoting AgentPay added another ~600K. Neither are crypto-native. Both became top signal drivers. → The conversation shifted from “what are agents” to “what do they need” @tempo going live wasn’t just another mainnet. it was infrastructure for agents to transact autonomously Venice pushing encrypted AI added the missing privacy layer. if agents handle value, they can’t be transparent by default World positioning identity for agents reframed trust → Underneath, the market is still narrow VVV, @virtuals_io , Bankr dominate attention new entrants are emerging, but depth is limited Most of the signal still clusters around a few projects So while the narrative expanded outward the capital and attention inside crypto are still concentrated Agentic payments isn’t just another subtrend. It’s the first time the AI agent narrative had a clear economic primitive behind it. That’s why everything else aligned.

Aligned with Quant’s mission of enabling institutions to safely and securely transact on any layer 1 network while preserving security, privacy and compliance. Timely that we’ve released Quant Fusion’s "Open Source Connector" specification. This has been trialled very successfully. Within days of releasing the specification, connectors for EVM, Hedera and SUI had been built: https://t.co/K2pHocO1xf We can easily add Circle’s Arc and Stripe’s Tempo to Fusion’s Layer 2.5 roll up and network for institutional interoperability of digital assets with digital money. Excited to see how this progresses and grows.
