6 years ago we published a whitepaper about privacy on Qtum. You can still read it here: https://eprint.iacr.org/2020/156.pdf "We propose an efficient privacy protocol using zk-SNARKs based on smart contracts. It helps to make several decentralized applications, like digital assets, stable coins, and payments, confidential." At that time, we were warned by multiple exchanges that we'd be delisted if we went through with this, so development was halted. It seems like that narrative has shifted since 2020. While the paper is a bit dated, the fact remains that Qtum is well positioned to implement Phantom tech to our UTXO+EVM layer1 stack. We've decided to begin work on an updated version of this whitepaper. With $USDC coming to Qtum in the next few weeks, it makes sense to revisit privacy. We believe it's important to have this as a foundational layer on which we can attempt to build out a better ecosystem on Qtum. To prepare for this, we've signed on with a security partner to get Qtum Core audited in October. Once that is complete, we'll begin work on a privacy solution. We'll keep everyone updated on our progress.

Here's Qwen 3.8 27b in action using the DeepSeek harness. This is self-hosted from our facility. 55-65 tokens per second. Text go woosh. This is FP16 precision 262k context vision enabled. We will be adding more open weight models soon, next up will be Qwen 3.8 Flash Next hosted on our own hardware. We're using a few hundred RTX 4090D 48gb cards to make this work. The price for this model is $1.18 per 1m tokens output. We will likely add 2 more models over the next couple weeks.

Fable 5.1 will be added soon to the Qtum AI router @AnthropicAI continues to be the leader across most benchmarks, and this release looks to cement that role. Fable is commonly seen amongst builders as the most dependable model for getting things done in one attempt. Notable improvements in 5.1: Better at multi-hour / multi-day loops. Requires less babysitting. Agentic coding and terminal work. Terminal Bench 4.0 shows an increase from 42% to 52.6% over Fable 5, while Terminal-Bench-Science 0.1 boosts all the way to 52.6%.

http://Qtum.ai launched an API router that gives you access to 30+ models. No sign-up required, pay with Qtum coins, no minimum purchase. We then released "Dreamzo", which builds AI generated videos as long as you want from one prompt. It creates the storyboard, visuals, script, and presents it all to you before generating and stitching together the videos. Dreamzo is completely free to download, you can plug it right into the Qtum API router to get started.

DreamZo: Your Imagination Just Got a Camera We've been inspired by the democratizing power of tools like WordPress, and wanted to bring that same simplicity to AI-powered video generation. The issue when using multiple tools to generate videos is it's hard to keep them "on script" without drifting into weirdness. Yesterday we released DreamZo, which aims to give anyone the power to make videos as easily as possible. You can easily make a video in minutes with a few short prompts, here's an example: We didn't have to write an elaborate script, just a few words in the prompt and DreamZo replied with a full script and example visuals. Listed below are the 3 steps required before rendering: You can always change what you want to make it more personal, but we just went with the suggestions and moved forward to a proposed storyboard. All that's left to do is start rendering the video, that's it! Configuring DreamZo is easy, you choose the models you want to use and plug in your API key. This installable application works on Windows/Mac and is pre-configured to use the Qtum.ai inference router. If you want to the visuals to be different, or the text-to-speech modified, you just need to tick a few boxes. The example we listed above is just one flavor of video, it doesn't need to be completely animated. You could make any kind of video, as long as you want. You simply pay for the tokens you use, there's no signup or registration required. Everything you generate is stored locally on your device, not on some cloud service. This software is completely free to download, head over to Qtum.ai to download DreamZo and start showing off your videos!

Great news! @MetaMask has added the updated Qtum Snap to the "Snap Directory". This updated Snap has built-in QRC-20 functionality, along with an updated UI. https://snaps.metamask.io/snap/npm/qtumproject/qtum-wallet/ If you already use MetaMask, all you need to do is enable the snap, nothing else. This is a good update for our project because it opens the door for a better web3 experience. Users can now easily authenticate on http://qtum.ai and we built this snap to work seamlessly with the updated $USDC bridge. Now that this update has been published, we can move forward deploying the bridge. We have been providing technical support with a third party interested in deploying a DEX on Qtum, which simply wasn't possible until now without a stablecoin. We have a lot of catching up to do in terms of web3 capabilities, and we're working on it. This wallet will be central to our plans moving forward. Expect to hear more on this front. Too Early is the Same as Being Wrong: Our “Proto-OpenClaw” that Shipped Sept 2025. In September 2025, we published a piece calling Model Context Protocol (MCP) the "USB-C for AI." https://qtum.org/blog/model-context-protocol-and-qtum At the time, MCP was a niche topic. Anthropic had introduced it less than a year earlier, and most of the industry hadn't noticed yet. So what is MCP? The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open-source, universal standard that allows AI models to seamlessly and securely connect to external data sources and software tools. Originally introduced by Anthropic and now governed by the Linux Foundation, it has been universally adopted by major AI players like OpenAI and Google. Before MCP, if a developer wanted an AI to read data from Slack, Google Drive, or a secure database, they had to write custom code for every single connection. This could QUICKLY get messy, and because each developer has their own flavor of scripting that they understood well, but when you duct-taped together a complicated setup, things could get weird. Think of MCP as the "USB-C port for AI." Instead of building a unique adapter for every device, software applications and databases can build an "MCP port" just once. From that point on, any AI model can plug into it instantly to fetch live data, read files, or execute actions. To sum this up, MCP basically created AI agents that could do difficult tasks that required multiple steps. An agent could use an MCP server to operate a Gmail account, and the logic that controlled what the e-mails contained was determined by the LLM behind it. A human operator could then tell its agent to use an MCP server to build websites that farm e-mail addresses, and then use an LLM to follow up the conversations using the Gmail account completely automated. When we first discovered this, we knew this was going to blow up, so we wanted to get in front of this. We made two predictions in our article: 1️⃣ MCP would become the universal standard for connecting AI models to tools, data, and the real world. 2️⃣ The MCP server ecosystem would explode. Servers for practically any use case, built by anyone. We began development on Qtum Ally. This was an installable desktop application which gave users access to multiple LLM’s, and had bundled in MCP support to build powerful agents. Users had the ability to add/remove these models as well, giving them the ability to turn their Win/Mac desktop computer into a powerful autonomous agent for free. We pushed this as hard as our reach allowed, we had a few surges in usage, but nothing really stuck. It was just too new and too hard to tell the story. Here's what happened next: → OpenAI adopted MCP across its Agents SDK, Responses API, and ChatGPT desktop. Google, Microsoft, and AWS followed. → In December 2025, MCP was donated to the Agentic AI Foundation under the Linux Foundation — with Google, Microsoft, AWS, OpenAI, and Cloudflare as founding members. It stopped being one company's protocol and became the protocol. → The ecosystem grew from a few hundred servers to 10,000+ active public MCP servers. → Even the "USB-C for AI" framing became the industry's go-to analogy. → ClawBot is unleashed, later named OpenClaw. While much of the industry was still catching up, Qtum Ally already had MCP built in: 12 LLMs, pre-configured, no coding required, and free. Our plan was to put tools that used to require a developer into the hands of everyone, We learned a humbling lesson from this: We’re on the right track, we’re developing tools that people will use, but we need to try harder to get the message out. For example, the Qtum Text-to-Video generator was just launched, and there's over 2000 users that have tried it, and over 15,000 visits to the page. We saw that MCP was the future of generative AI, it's part of the infrastructure layer. We knew this in September, now everyone does. We're going to keep developing and releasing AI products. Listed below is what we’ve released in the last few months on Qtum.ai 🎬 Qtum.ai — our text-to-video generation platform for creators and developers. Users have access to the newest Seedance models, and can pay for image generation with Qtum. This is our first AI product that isn’t completely free. New users have 500 free credits to try it out, and the ability to top up their balance with Qtum. 🔀 The Qtum AI Router — a unified inference layer (think OpenRouter) giving developers one API to route requests across multiple AI models. Built for the agent era that MCP made possible. This product allows users who want access to the latest LLM’s to power their agents, but don’t want to pay with a credit card or have to sign up for any subscriptions. There’s no vendor lock-in, you simply pay for what you use. You don’t even need to register for anything, you can authenticate with simply a MetaMask or Foxwallet chrome extension. This also adds a layer or privacy as well. The purpose of this Twitter Article is to get more eyes on qtum.ai as we're releasing a lot of products right now. Read the original article from September 2025 👇 https://qtum.org/blog/model-context-protocol-and-qtum Please keep in mind this article doesn't mean we're turning Qtum Ally offline, it still works with "Qwen3 Next" and whatever MCP servers you add to it. It technically still is a competitor to OpenClaw, and you can download it at Qtum.ai to try it out.

What's next for Qtum after a halvening and hard fork in the last 6 weeks? Three things coming right up: First, We're launching a bridge to Ethereum that uses the @circle "Bridged USDC Standard" to bring $USDC to Qtum, along with DeFi and MetaMask. Second, we're doing some housekeeping on the http://qtum.info/ block explorer. We've continuously run this since 2017 and it needs a refresh. http://qtum.ai/ is constantly improving. 2 hours remain until the Qtum v29.1 hard fork takes place. Highlights from this update include: • Stronger privacy options • BLS12‑381 precompile for ZK rollups • Bitcoin Core 27–29 upgrades • Faster tx propagation & fewer orphans • Ephemeral dust support • CMake build system • Faster & more reliable transaction handling • More consistent node behavior • UPnP (finally) removed and replaced with PCP / NAT-PMP • Wallets benefit indirectly because a stronger node network = faster, more reliable transaction propagation • Better Tor binding behavior This upgrade will allow for more efficient ZK-Rollups on Qtum, while strengthening the underlying encryption that keeps everything secure. This has a lot more impact than it sounds, as ZK-Rollups allow for some powerful layer 2 scaling solutions that can significantly improve throughput for all kinds of applications. Most notably trading, gaming, gambling, file hosting, and even cross-chain bridges, etc. To read the blog post on our website: https://qtum.org/blog/whats-included-in-the-qtum-v291-hard-fork To upgrade your node to v29.1 https://github.com/qtumproject/qtum/releases

Work continues updating the Qtum MetaMask Snap to the latest version. We've improved the overall experience by integrating more features directly into the wallet. We will try to get this updated on MetaMask Snaps Directory after more QA is done. Our goal here is to do a proper $USDC integration on Qtum using the @circle Bridged USDC Standard. This requires an audited bridge between Ethereum and Qtum, which is complete. The obvious next phase is a decent wallet. The first MetaMask Snap we released did pass an audit, but the UI was clunky and there were some issues that needed fixing, so we decided just to update to the latest version. To sum this up, we're closer than ever to having USDC on Qtum. All of the dev work is complete, we're now just doing QA and preparing for final audits.

The upcoming Qtum 29.1 hardfork includes EIP-2537, has been integrated into Qtum’s EVM. This upgrade adds BLS12-381 precompiles, which enable more efficient ZK-Rollups and strengthen cryptographic security. The update supports Layer 2 scaling for applications like trading, gaming, and cross-chain bridges, and keeps Qtum aligned with current EVM standards for developer compatibility.

Qtum is Available on RISC-V Right now, the Qtum team is updating all our backend infrastructure, including seed nodes and block explorers to the latest version 29.1 to get ready for the hard fork that will happen in early 2026. We're getting docker images sent to service providers and so forth. We decided to try compiling a Qtum node using the latest RISC-V, pronounced "Risk 5". This means it's the 5th version of the Reduced Instruction Set Computer that came out of USC Berkeley. It's also an open design, unlike ARM which closed and licensed. This means anyone who wants to make use of RISC-V hardware, can do so in any way they want without paying royalties or obtaining licenses. The efficiency of these boards are really nice. A comparable ARM-based board with 8gb RAM struggled to handle the Qtum node, but the RISC-V board is handling it well. If you have a RISC-V board, it's easy to compile Qtumd with cmake. Fun Times in Japan! At the start of October, while some of our team attended Token 2049, other members traveled to Japan for a meetup and a face to face with our exchange partner OKJ (okcoin.jp). The visit was an opportunity to strengthen our relationship, discuss strategy, and brainstorm fun new opportunities for Qtum users in Japan. Interestingly, our first meeting with the OKJ team took place back in April at another conference, where both sides quickly realized the potential for collaboration. This recent visit to OKJ’s headquarters gave us the chance to explore those collab ideas in more depth and talk about future events where Qtum could play a meaningful role in the local crypto community. Following Nextech week Japan, Qtum also hosted two weeknight meetups just down the street from the Makuhari Messe Center. The turnout was fantastic, Tokyo was buzzing with energy, and our venue’s lively location helped draw in plenty of visitors. It was a pleasure connecting with everyone who stopped by to share food, drinks, and great conversations about the market, the evolving crypto landscape, and of course, Qtum itself. Many of the Qtum subjects we spoke about revolved around user engagement, we also met quite a few developers looking for platforms. Long story short, we’re already looking forward to visiting again and are starting to plan with some of the folks we met. We’re grateful to everyone who joined us and helped make these gatherings a success. The enthusiasm we saw in Tokyo reinforces our belief that Japan is an exciting and growing part of the global Qtum community. Expect to see Qtum gain some notice, and momentum in the weeks ahead, both in holding and using Qtum across Japan.
