The AI Loop #34: Kimi K3 Challenges the West, ChatGPT Work, and Meta's $10B AI Deal Welcome to The AI Loop #34. The AI race continues to evolve. This week, we saw another major leap from China's AI ecosystem, OpenAI pushed further into workplace automation, and Meta signaled even bigger ambitions for AI infrastructure. On the Perle side, we're continuing to build behind the scenes as we prepare more Season 2 tasks, community initiatives, and events throughout the summer. Perle Labs Update Building Behind the Scenes It's been a quieter week publicly, but there's plenty happening behind the scenes. We're continuing to prepare new Season 2 tasks that bring contributors into real-world AI workflows while expanding opportunities to participate on the platform. At the same time, the team is gearing up for a busy stretch of events throughout the summer and fall. We're looking forward to meeting more builders, researchers, and partners while sharing more about what we're building at Perle. Top AI Stories Kimi K3 Lands Overnight: The Largest Open Model Ever Released Chinese AI startup @Kimi_Moonshot unveiled Kimi K3, a 2.8 trillion-parameter model that it says can compete with leading systems from OpenAI and Anthropic. When it launches later this month, Kimi K3 will become the world's first open-source model in the three-trillion-parameter class, allowing developers to freely download and build on it. The release is another sign that China's frontier AI ecosystem is advancing rapidly despite export restrictions, narrowing the gap with leading U.S. labs. Source: BBC News OpenAI Brings AI Deeper Into the Workplace @OpenAI launched ChatGPT Work, a new agent designed to automate complex workplace tasks across documents, spreadsheets, presentations, websites, and enterprise workflows. Powered by GPT-5.6, the product can gather context across files and applications to complete multi-step work with minimal human input. The launch marks OpenAI's latest move into enterprise productivity as competition around AI agents continues heating up across the industry. Source: Open AI Meta Eyes a $10B AI Infrastructure Deal @Meta is reportedly in talks with Anthropic on a cloud computing agreement worth up to $10B, as the company explores launching its own AI cloud business. The potential partnership would allow Anthropic to rent computing capacity from Meta while giving Meta another way to monetize the enormous investments it's making in AI infrastructure. It's another reminder that AI's biggest companies aren't just competing on models anymore. They're increasingly competing to become the infrastructure providers powering the entire ecosystem. Source: Yahoo Finance Stay in the Loop That's a wrap for the week. AI continues to move well beyond model releases. Companies are now competing across chips, cloud infrastructure, enterprise software, and the platforms that will power the next generation of intelligent systems. At Perle, we're focused on another essential part of that foundation: trusted human intelligence. As AI becomes more capable and more deeply integrated into the real world, high-quality human judgment becomes even more valuable.
