THORChain doesn't hold all its funds in a single vault. With around 100 active nodes, the network operates 6 Asgard vaults, each controlled by a different subset of ≈ 20 nodes via Threshold Signature Scheme. No single node ever holds a complete private key. A supermajority of nodes must sign every outbound transaction. The vaults also "churn" every 3 days. Old validators out → New validators in → Funds migrate to new addresses automatically. The multiple vault design is deliberate. Splitting funds across 6 independent vaults means a compromise of one doesn't cascade to the others. Each vault holds its own assets across every connected chain, and the protocol automatically directs inbound transactions to the vault with the highest bond-to-asset ratio, meaning funds always flow toward the most economically secured vault. This is exactly what happened on May 15. One vault was compromised. The other five were unaffected. The blast radius was contained by architecture. Sharded vaults are a risk management model. https://thorchain.net/vaults
