Polygon Open Money Stack Enters Technical Preview It's 2026. We can stream 4K video to a phone on a moving train, but moving $500 across a border still requires three intermediaries, two compliance checks, and somewhere between one and five business days. The technology to move money instantly has existed for years. The gap is in the system itself. The pipes were built in the 1970s, and every fintech since has been building prettier interfaces on top of the same slow plumbing. We think it's time to build new pipes. Introducing Polygon Open Money Stack, now in technical preview with limited early access. What is Polygon Open Money Stack? Polygon's mission is to move all money onchain. Polygon Open Money Stack (OMS) is how we're doing it. Polygon OMS is an open, integrated, and programmable stack of services and technologies under a single easy-to-use API to instantly and reliably move money anywhere, and put it to work. We're opening the technical preview of OMS. Accept deposits, move stablecoins, and off-ramp to bank accounts or cash. The core payments stack is ready, and we're onboarding a small group of partners and builders before expanding access more broadly. We believe global money should move easily and instantly through open systems, so people and businesses everywhere can take part in the global economy. That's the purpose behind Open Money Stack. The real bottleneck Most people in payments already know this: the infrastructure is the bottleneck, not the product. Every fintech founder has a similar story. You have a great idea for how money should move. Then you discover that to actually move a dollar from point A to point B, you need a bank partner, an on-ramp provider, a compliance vendor, a wallet solution, and some way to reconcile all of them. You spend 12 months on infrastructure before you ship a single transaction. And when you finally go live, the foundation underneath is still SWIFT or ACH. For enterprises, it's worse: a patchwork of regional banking relationships, each with different APIs, different settlement windows, and different fee structures. Treasury teams spend more time reconciling than optimizing. The conventional wisdom says this is just how payments works: complex, expensive, slow to change. We disagree. You don't have to start over Your business wants to move money at the speed of the internet. But your infrastructure, banking partners, and compliance stack can't simply be replaced overnight. You don't have to start over. You just need a better layer underneath. Polygon Open Money Stack gives you stablecoin speed and cost without rebuilding your stack. One integration into your existing flows. Built on battle-tested rails by the only team that brings the full vertical: wallets, compliance, ramps, settlement, and cross-chain routing under a single platform. The core loop: money comes in as fiat, converts to stablecoins on Polygon, moves where it needs to go in seconds, and converts back to fiat at the destination. The entire cycle can complete in minutes. On traditional rails, that same cycle takes two to five business days. Here is what's available in technical preview: Cash ramps. Deposit and withdraw cash through ATMs across 48 US states. Cash goes in, USDC or USDT arrives in a custodial wallet. Bank ramps. Virtual bank accounts with ACH, Fedwire, and RTP support. Wire USD from any US bank directly into OMS. Custodial wallets. Auto-created per customer (USDC and USDT on Polygon). Developers start processing transactions immediately after onboarding. Embedded wallets coming in a future release. Stablecoin transfers. Person-to-person and business-to-contractor payment flows between wallets on Polygon. External wallet routing. Register external wallet addresses to route funds to any Polygon wallet outside of OMS. Full API. Key generation, webhooks, RBAC, SSO, sandbox and live environments. What this looks like in practice A payroll company connects to OMS. Their client wires $50,000 into their OMS virtual bank account via ACH. The funds land in minutes. The payroll company triggers 200 contractor payouts through a single API call. Each payment converts to USDC on Polygon and transfers to the contractor's custodial wallet in seconds, at fractions of a cent per transaction. From there, contractors can withdraw cash at an ATM, transfer the USDC to an external wallet, or hold it. The integration took weeks instead of months. Settlement dropped from 1-3 business days to seconds. Transaction costs dropped from dollars per payment to fractions of a penny. Contractors got paid the same day the wire landed. Why we built this ourselves Most stablecoin infrastructure providers are orchestrators. They route between third-party ramps, third-party wallets, and third-party chains, adding a coordination layer on top of components they don't control. OMS is different because Polygon built and operates the full vertical: the wallets, the ramps, the chain, the cross-chain routing, and the settlement layer underneath. That matters more than it sounds. When you build on an orchestrator, every third-party component in the chain takes a margin, and that cost gets passed to you. With OMS, fewer intermediaries means better unit economics for the businesses building on top of it. When something breaks in an orchestrated stack, your provider files a ticket with someone else's support team. When something breaks in OMS, the team that built the component is the team that fixes it. When you need a feature that spans wallets and ramps and settlement, you're not waiting on three separate vendors to align their roadmaps. When compliance requirements change, the entire stack adapts together rather than one component at a time. One SLA. One API. Due diligence, vendor management, and compliance are all simpler when there's one counterparty operating the infrastructure end to end. Orchestration works for getting started. It falls apart when you're moving real money at scale. Why us. Polygon has been building blockchain infrastructure longer and at greater scale than virtually anyone in the industry. The network accounts for 32% of global stablecoin transaction volume and has processed over $2.6 trillion in stablecoin transfers. Transactions settle in seconds at $0.002 average cost. Mastercard, Stripe, Visa, BlackRock, Revolut, and Franklin Templeton chose to build on Polygon. That track record is the foundation OMS is built on. Other teams are spinning up mainnets and calling themselves payments infrastructure within months of going live. Polygon has been operating at this scale for years, learning what breaks, what scales, and what enterprises actually need. There is no shortcut to that knowledge. Why now. Stablecoin volume has crossed $2 trillion daily. Regulators are writing frameworks. Enterprises are moving from proof-of-concept to procurement. The market is ready for real payments infrastructure on blockchain, and the window to define what that looks like is open right now. Polygon built OMS because we have the blockchain expertise, the payments knowledge, and the production-grade infrastructure to do it. You don't have to wait You don't have to wait for early access to start building. The products that power OMS are live today: Wallets. Embedded wallet infrastructure that moves money on-chain without exposing crypto to end users. Already live and powering applications across payments, gaming, and consumer finance. Cash Ramps (via Coinme). Operation in 48 US states for deposits and withdrawals, live today. Polygon Chain. The go-to chain for moving money. Fast, low-cost, and battle-tested with six years in production and over $2.6T in stablecoin transfer volume. Chain Development Kit. Launch your own blockchain with built-in privacy and native access to global liquidity. In production with institutions moving real value. Cross-chain transactions. Pay, swap, fund, or earn in any token, on any EVM chain, using any wallet. Polygon Trails is the universal intents platform for 1-click crypto transactions.
