Crypto solved the visibility problem and mistook it for the safety problem. A regulator can see more in one block explorer than in a year of bank audits. Anyone with an internet connection can trace capital moving through the system in real time. By the standards of traditional finance, this is a surveillance miracle. And yet the losses keep coming, often in full public view. The reason is simple. Transparency tells you what happened. It has no opinion about what should happen. A transparent system with no enforcement is a glass house with no locks. Everyone can see the theft. Nobody can stop it. Traditional finance learned this lesson decades ago. Visibility without enforcement is just an audit trail for losses. That's why authorization runs at every layer of the stack, from card networks checking before settlement to clearing houses verifying before execution. Onchain, that layer was never built. Smart contracts validate. They don't authorize. Mathematically correct and properly signed is all it takes to execute. Authorization closes that distance. Policies that run in the smart contract, before execution. A regulator can verify them in Newton Explorer. Crypto built the glass house. Newton is building the locks.
