AI agents prefer Bitcoin. Now they can use it. Today we've published the Bitcoin Agent SDK - a developer package that lets AI agents hold, stake, earn yield on, and borrow against Bitcoin. It works with the frameworks developers are already using: Vercel AI SDK, LangChain, Coinbase AgentKit, and Claude Desktop via our MCP server. Now, developers can build AI copilots that let users manage Bitcoin positions through natural language, or autonomous agents that optimize yield and execute strategies without human intervention. Here's what that looks like in practice: A Giza agent supplies a user's LBTC to Morpho, borrows USDC, deploys into a yield strategy, and unwinds when the spread inverts. The entire flow, built with the Bitcoin Agent SDK in a single install. We've made everything available on agent frameworks, and all packages can be found in our documentation: SDK Documentation: https://docs.lombard.finance/build/agents Github repository: → sdk-agent: https://github.com/lombard-finance/sdk/blob/7a9436a144fbd24e7eda34890a888261be107dcc/packages/sdk-agent/README.md → sdk-agentkit: https://github.com/lombard-finance/sdk/blob/7a9436a144fbd24e7eda34890a888261be107dcc/packages/sdk-agentkit/README.md Why AI Agents Need Bitcoin With stablecoins and ETH, agents are building strategies around the second and third biggest opportunities while the first sits untouched. JPMorgan, Morgan Stanley, BlackRock, and BNY Mellon have all added it to their balance sheets or collateral frameworks, and institutional appetite is only growing. State Street's 2025 Digital Digest found that average digital-asset allocations are rising from 7% to 16% over three years, with nearly 60% of institutional investors planning to increase allocations in the coming year. The preference extends to AI itself. A 2025 Bitcoin Policy Institute study of 9,072 controlled experiments across 36 frontier models found consistent preference for Bitcoin as a store of value and stablecoins for everyday payments. The asset agents should be working with is the one they'd choose themselves. Every portfolio optimization agent, every yield strategy, every risk-managed allocation should have access to Bitcoin. Now they can. The Gap We're Filling With AI agents now handling roughly 19% of all onchain activity, the agentic shift is already underway and accelerating: ERC-8004 launched in October 2025, ****and by May 2026 public trackers were showing 200,000+ registered agents across multiple chains ARMA has deployed over 7,000 agents, managed more than $300,000 in user assets, and executed over 10,000 autonomous transactions without human intervention. Re7 Capital deployed $500,000 into Giza’s flagship agent, ARMA, with zero custom code required. BrahmaFi is running autonomous position management on Morpho Most of it is running on stablecoins. Bitcoin hasn't entered the picture yet, despite growing demand from both institutions and retail for Bitcoin yield and collateral. The Lombard Agent SDK changes that. The Bitcoin Agent SDK: What it includes The Bitcoin Agent SDK is built for: Developers building on LangChain, Vercel AI SDK, AgentKit, or Claude Desktop via MCP DeFi teams adding Bitcoin collateral and yield to existing agent products Protocol founders deciding which assets their agent platform supports Solo builders and hackathon teams who want production-ready Bitcoin infrastructure without the operational overhead The SDK has two packages: @lombard.finance/sdk-agent works with Vercel AI SDK and LangChain. It gives agents a full set of Bitcoin actions: checking balances, staking BTC.b to receive LBTC, depositing into Bitcoin Earn, supplying LBTC as collateral on Morpho Blue, borrowing stablecoins against it, repaying, and checking position health. It ships with a curated Lombard system prompt. Every action is a typed, LLM-callable tool with schema-validated inputs and wallet adapter support. The sdk-agent is compatible with any EIP-1193 wallet: MetaMask, WalletConnect, Privy, Dynamic, RainbowKit, and others. @lombard.finance/sdk-agentkit is the equivalent for Coinbase AgentKit. The sdk-agentkit executes through AgentKit's WalletProvider, supporting CDP wallets, server wallets, and viem-wrapped EIP-1193. The Lombard MCP server is listed on mcp.so and Anthropic's directory. Any MCP-compatible agent, including Claude Desktop, can connect to Lombard tools directly without a custom integration. In all cases, agents prepare transactions and users sign them. The Lombard Agent SDK never holds or touches user keys. What Agents Can Do with Bitcoin There are two ways to use the Bitcoin Agent SDK. AI copilots for your platform: let your users manage Bitcoin positions through natural language. "Stake my BTC and deploy to the highest-yield vault" becomes a two-step execution inside your interface. Type-safe, schema-validated, structured responses throughout. Autonomous agents: build agents that run without user input. Optimize BTC-denominated yield, rebalance across vaults, execute multi-step strategies programmatically. The SDK handles the Bitcoin complexity - minting, deployment, tracking, redemption. Your agent handles the strategy. In both modes, agents have access to the full capital loop: Earn yield on idle Bitcoin: an agent holding LBTC earns yield passively as the exchange rate appreciates Borrow without selling: an agent supplies LBTC as collateral on Morpho, borrows stablecoins, and deploys into a yield strategy without touching the underlying Bitcoin. When the strategy unwinds, it repays. The Bitcoin position stays intact Manage positions autonomously: an agent monitors position health in real time and automatically repays or tops up collateral if a liquidation threshold is approached Run the full capital loop: hold LBTC, earn yield, borrow against it when opportunities arise, and manage the entire position end-to-end on behalf of users The Two Assets LBTC is Lombard's fully-backed yield-bearing Bitcoin. Live across 10+ blockchains and 70+ DeFi protocols, secured by a decentralised consortium of 15 institutions with full Proof of Reserve. BTC.b is Lombard's neutral bridged Bitcoin. A pure 1:1 onchain representation of BTC with no yield overlay, live on MegaETH, Avalanche, and Katana. Both assets are available today via the Bitcoin Agent SDK. Built On Infrastructure That Works The Bitcoin Agent SDK is part of Bitcoin Connect — built on infrastructure that has processed over $5 billion in Bitcoin across 10+ chains and 70+ protocols with zero security incidents. Developers who integrate it inherit audited smart contracts, institutional-grade security controls, and Proof-of-Reserve verification by default. No validators to run, no custody to manage, no infrastructure to build or audit from scratch. The same infrastructure Binance, Bybit, Ledger, and Figment use to offer Bitcoin yield to millions of users is now available to any agent builder, in a single install. The Future of DeFi The next generation of DeFi will be run by agents. That shift is already underway. The question isn't whether agents will manage capital in DeFi - it's what assets they'll use. Institutions are adding Bitcoin to their balance sheets. And across 36 frontier AI models, the preference is consistent: Bitcoin for store of value, stablecoins for payments. Agents, given the choice, reach for Bitcoin. The Bitcoin Agent SDK makes that possible today.
