Polkadot April 2026 Recap April was the first full month under Polkadot's new economic model, as approved via OpenGov. The new economic model went live on March 14 and introduced revised issuance parameters for DOT, such as a reduction in annual issuance at launch by 53.6%, the maximum supply of 2.1B DOT, and planned step reductions in issuance by approximately 13,14% every two years. Staking & Protocol Incentives . Under the current staking model: If a validator acts maliciously or incompetently, only the validator’s own bonded stake is affected, not the stake delegated by nominators. Nomination pools are still accessible from 1 DOT, so anyone can participate in staking without being exposed to slashing. The 10,000 DOT minimum self-stake for validators is now required. Validators that fall below the threshold are automatically removed from the active set. By mid-June, another change to on-change rules is planned: to secure the Polkadot network, validators will receive dedicated rewards from the Dynamic Allocation Pool (separate from nominator rewards), all sourced from protocol issuance. Acurast Hits 750M On-Chain Transactions In April, @Acurast reported over 750 million on-chain transactions on Polkadot, powered by more than 250,000 devices across 175+ countries. It’s a signal that decentralized infrastructure is moving beyond theory and into large-scale, real-world usage. Web3 Summit is back Web3 Summit returns to Berlin on June 18–19, 2026. It brings together talkers, listeners, developers, designers, artists, researchers, and you, all focused on building systems shaped by digital agency, privacy, and participation instead of control. This year, @web3summit has become more of a festival than a conference. A space where building, research, art, and community mix, and where people come together to shape what Web3 looks like in practice. The Polkadot Docs MCP is now live Polkadot Docs MCP turns official documentation into an interactive expert. You can ask about XCM fees, OpenGov, validators, Asset Hub, or PolkaVM vs EVM and get direct answers from official sources. It also provides structured LLM-ready data for agents and RAG systems to build with native Polkadot context. Nova Wallet UX Progress Nova Wallet keeps improving how users interact with Polkadot by turning complex features like staking, governance, and multi-chain management into a simple mobile experience. In this April thread by Parity, a clear introduction to @NovaWalletApp highlights its focus on making Polkadot’s experience simple and user-friendly. In short, April wasn’t about one big story, but about a pattern of stable operation and gradual progress across the ecosystem.
