Base Azul and the Multi-Prover Future: Built on Automata Network TL;DR: @base Azul upgrade integrates Automata Network's open-source infrastructure to power its new multi-proof consensus. supported by our AWS Nitro Enclave Verifier for its primary TEE proposal pat. This routing hardware attestations through RISC Zero to bypass EVM gas limits. SP1 serves as a secondary, permissionless zero-knowledge backstop. This deployment validates our foundational role in scaling Web3 multi-prover architecture. Industry leaders @VitalikButerin have long outlined the requirement of multi-prover systems to reach Stage Two decentralisation. @Base (@BuildonBase) Azul network upgrade serves as the latest validation, integrating a multi-proof design directly into its core protocol utilizing our open source infrastructure. Automata Network pioneered this architecture by engineering the first hardware-based provers as an independent, parallel proof generation mechanism for Web3 ecosystems. Base Azul and the Multi-Proof Consensus The transition to a multi-prover network is a massive cryptographic undertaking, and the Azul upgrade showcases how our open-source tools help accelerate this industry shift. By utilizing our AWS Nitro Enclave onchain verifier, Base was able to deploy a production-ready hardware proving system. AWS Nitro Enclaves serve as the necessary Trusted Execution Environment (TEE). They provide an isolated hardware boundary to execute state transitions and generate verifiable attestation reports. Verifying these TEE documents natively on Ethereum requires immense computational overhead, frequently exceeding block gas limits. The EVM lacks native precompiles for the secp384r1 (P-384) signature curves used by AWS enclaves, which have made them historically difficult to validate on Ethereum. We originally engineered our Rust-based Prover SDK and batch verification contracts to solve this exact bottleneck. To bypass the P-384 constraint, our architecture provides a streamlined option to route attestation logic through a zkVM, compressing million-gas hardware quotes into succinct, computationally cheap ZK proofs. For the common proposal path, Base leverages RISC Zero's Boundless Network to generate hardware proofs supported by their deployment of our open-source AWS Nitro Enclave Verifier. As a permissionless backstop, Base employs SP1 to mathematically verify Layer 2 state transitions during disputes. It is a fantastic validation of our work to see major networks utilize our foundational components to achieve deeper decentralization. Supplying Web3’s Core Attestation Infrastructure Building reliable multi-prover systems requires robust attestation infrastructure. Remote attestation allows a smart contract to cryptographically verify the integrity of an execution environment and confirm the hardware is genuine. Engineering this verification layer is an immense cryptographic undertaking. We built the foundational libraries for onchain attestation precisely because the industry needed a verifiable standard to move forward. When major networks engineer custom multi-proof architectures, they invariably build upon this groundwork. Base Azul network upgrade and its multi-proof system rely on our infrastructure to handle attestation parsing and generate the required proofs. This adoption highlights a fundamental shift in how the industry secures Layer 2 computation. As the ecosystem standardizes around hardware and cryptographic proof combinations, the primitives we developed are functioning as the bedrock for the most significant networks in the space. ### Tweet As @base Azul goes live, its multi-proof consensus leverages Automata’s open-source standard with native @RiscZero @boundless_xyz support Watching the ecosystem wake up to multi-provers is incredible, esp knowing our infra powers it. Congrats on Azul, @jessepollak @buildonbase! ###
