This is the story of the listener who chose not to listen... Veyl was not untrained. He was a Sapidae listener, entrusted with a Hat Golem and authorized to practice Golemry under the Gentle Craft. He understood spirit clay and the restraint it demanded. That was why his first choice mattered. Veyl began leaving his Hat Golem behind. Without it, Lunacia’s voice softened, easier to ignore. Petrasense became background noise instead of guidance, and Veyl started shaping spirit clay based on intent rather than harmony. He harvested clay from unstable ground that other Sapidae avoided. Where the land did not answer, he did not stop. He decided outcomes before touching the clay, seeking strength and certainty instead of balance. The Chimera did not force him. They whispered a single idea. Restraint weakens creation. By the time Veyl returned to the shrine alone, the Gentle Craft was already broken. No kiln burned. No abomination existed. But the bond between spirit clay and Lunacia had begun to unravel.
