How Moonbeam Became Polkadot’s Liquidity Hub Welcome! This is the first of three posts in a series exploring where @MoonbeamNetwork stands today, where it’s headed in 2026, and what’s already driving real activity across the ecosystem. Today, Moonbeam is the most Ethereum-compatible environment in @Polkadot and the gateway for liquidity moving across chains. If you’re building on Ethereum, Moonbeam feels familiar, with the same tooling, same workflows, and little to no changes required. But under the hood, something big is happening. Moonbeam doesn’t just connect to Ethereum; it connects Ethereum and many other major ecosystems such as @base, @solana, and @SuiNetwork to Polkadot. And increasingly, it’s becoming the place where liquidity enters, moves, and gets used. Over the past 365 days, more than $350M in volume has flowed through Moonbeam via Wormhole and Axelar alone. Not bad for a “bridge.” 2025: Less Hype, More Progress 2025 wasn’t about flashy announcements, it was about doing hard work. Moonbeam shipped seven major runtime upgrades, steadily improving performance, reliability, and EVM compatibility. Wallets Got Smarter With support for EIP-7702, wallets on Moonbeam leveled up. Instead of clunky, multi-step flows, users can now: Execute complex actions in one click Interact with apps more seamlessly Benefit from smarter security models It’s a small change on the surface, but it unlocks a much better user experience. Liquidity Started Doing Something Moving assets across chains is useful. Using them is even better. In 2025, Moonbeam started turning liquidity into something active. With xcUSDC from AssetHub, treasury funds can now: Move across parachains Be converted programmatically (like DCA via @hydration_net) Be used directly for payments This is where things get interesting, because the story is no longer “How do we move assets?” It’s “What can we do with them once they arrive?” That shift is already showing up in real flows. Moonbeam facilitates routes between major ecosystems and Polkadot-native applications. For example, more than $9M in assets have flowed from Solana into Hydration via Moonbeam, along with over $1M from Sui into the same ecosystem. These aren’t just isolated bridges—they’re coordinated liquidity routes, where assets move from external networks into Polkadot and are put to work in DeFi. And Then There Was Gaming Quietly, one of the biggest shifts happened in gaming. Transactions up 36% YoY Gaming transactions up ~10x Now ~20% of all activity But the real story isn’t the numbers; it’s why they grew. Moonbeam’s gaming ecosystem leaned into competition. Not just NFTs or tokens, but tournaments, leaderboards, and repeat play, and it worked. If 2025 built the foundation, 2026 is where things start to scale.
