BTC.b is Now Listed on Aave V3 Core Instance on Ethereum Bitcoin's most credibly neutral wrapper just got its most important DeFi integration yet. BTC.b is officially listed on the Aave V3 Core Instance on Ethereum — one of the most battle-tested and widely used lending markets in DeFi. And notably, BTC.b is listed simply as Bitcoin. Priced directly against a BTC/USD feed, with no exchange rate adapter required, reflecting exactly what BTC.b is: a 1:1 backed, fully verifiable representation of Bitcoin, not a custodian's product or an exchange's wrapper. BTC holders can now use BTC.b as collateral and access the full Aave lending stack without touching a gated, custodian-aligned wrapper. What this means in practice BTC.b on Aave V3 means: Permissionless BTC collateral on DeFi’s deepest lending market Zero minting fees — users bring their Bitcoin onchain without a toll No KYC, no institutional gating, no Exchange account required Secured by a 15-institution consortium including Kraken, Galaxy, DCG, OKX, and Wintermute — decentralized custody, not a single custodian For Aave users, BTC.b is the first truly neutral Bitcoin collateral option. Unlike cbBTC, which is gated to Coinbase customers, and unlike WBTC, where trust is concentrated in a single custodian, BTC.b was designed as a neutral primitive that serves every user, protocol, and chain. The risk review BTC.b has undergone extensive due diligence by some of the most respected risk curators in the space, including Chaos Labs, LlamaRisk, and BDG. Their independent reviews covered the full scope of the asset risks. From the technical architecture and smart contract changes following Lombard's acquisition of BTC.b from Ava Labs, to independent verification of reserve segregation from LBTC staking activity, mint and redeem flows, and liquidity conditions across venues. We're grateful to Chaos Labs, LlamaRisk, and BDG for the rigor and depth they brought to this DD process. Full review. Final parameters for BTC.b: Max Loan-to-Value: 73% Liquidation Threshold: 78% Liquidation Penalty: 7.5% How to mint BTC.b Minting is permissionless and open to anyone. Head to lombard.finance/app/deposit to get started. Deposit native BTC to your pre-specified address on the Bitcoin network. After 6 confirmations, the Lombard Security Consortium — a 15-institution coordination layer requiring a two-thirds quorum to authorise any mint — validates your deposit proof and BTC.b is minted 1:1 directly to your wallet. The mint fee is capped at approximately 29 satoshis (~$0.02), while redemptions carry a flat fee of 0 satoshis plus ~10,000 satoshis (~$6.50) to cover BTC-side transaction costs. Any BTC holder can mint; no exchange account, no institutional relationship, no KYC gating. Why BTC.b on Aave V3 matters Not all Bitcoin wrappers are equal. Here's how BTC.b compares across every dimension that matters: The wrapped Bitcoin market has been dominated by two assets with structural limitations. cbBTC requires Coinbase access, excluding a large portion of the global market. WBTC has faced growing trust concerns following key custody changes. Neither was built to be neutral infrastructure. BTC.b was. BTC.b brings deep liquidity and a proven security track record to Aave V3. The same infrastructure that has maintained $1B+ TVL across LBTC for 18 months with zero security incidents is now powering Bitcoin on Aave. For builders If you're a protocol, chain, or neobank looking to bring Bitcoin to your users, the Aave V3 listing is a signal: BTC.b has the security, liquidity, and the neutrality to be the default Bitcoin primitive across DeFi. The Lombard SDK lets you embed native Bitcoin deposit flows directly into your product; no partnership agreements, no approval process, no fees. BTC.b is live. The Lombard SDK is available.
