February @Coinbase - Agents, Stocks & Karaoke Hey Everyboooodyyyy. It’s easy to miss a shift while it’s happening. So here's what happened @Coinbase in February. Platform & Product Expansion This month, the rails got sturdier and more integrated. We’re continuing our evolution into becoming a full financial stack powered to serve the future. That means more asset classes on the everything exchange. So, we officially rolled out stock trading for U.S. customers. The line between Wall Street and crypto keeps getting thinner. Hello big blue button. We partnered with @YahooFinance to become discoverable directly on the Yahoo home page. Distribution matters, and we’re meeting everyday stock investors where they are. We introduced Bitcoin rewards for holding USDC. In a market where idle capital usually earns nothing, this flips the script: stablecoins are productive capital. Crypto-backed loans are unlocked for XRP, DOGE, ADA and LTC. Now owners of these assets can look to unlock liquidity without selling their holdings. More collateral types = more flexibility. AI, @Base, & Developers If January was ‘AI is coming’, February was ‘AI is transacting’. @CoinbaseDev launched agentic wallets - letting AI agents manage funds, hold identity and transact onchain. This is yet another layer added to the infrastructure for the agent economy. Earlier this month we asked what comes first, 1 billion human traders or 1 trillion agents. Head of Coinbase Ventures, Hoolie Tejwani believes that it’s 1 trillion agents, and they’ll need rails. Builder Codes are live on @base via @buildonbase. Apps can now earn onchain for the activity they bring to the ecosystem - creating unique codes, sharing them with the community and receiving rewards when users bridge or transact. It’s a native growth loop built directly into the network. Thanks to @ycombinator, startups can now receive funding in stablecoins on @base. Early stage companies can now be natively onchain from day one. Call it Onchain Valley. Stripe launched x402 payments on @base - letting developers charge AI agents directly in USDC. No human checkout or credit card forms required. Just pure machine to machine settlement. Community & Culture The timeline had opinions. We dropped our Q4 and full year 2025 earnings, and for some reason you all paid a lot more attention this time. If your phone was out for repairs and you missed it, we came back again with another massive Super Bowl takeover to deliver an important message: crypto is for everybooooodyyyyy. Hope you enjoyed the ride to 1997. Evolving Money returns. This month, we released both Episode 1 and 2 - diving into tokenization with J.P.Morgan and the convergence of TradFi and DeFi with PNC. Tax season is upon us. Don’t finemaxx: the 1099-DA era is here. This is the first year of mandatory crypto broker reporting. The new 1099-DA reporting means gross proceeds are standardized, aligning crypto more closely with equities. Stablecoins are still classified as property, not cash. Meaning brokers can’t assume cost basis on transferred assets. We know it’s confusing. We’re advocating for clearer, more practical rules - and shipping resources to help you file with clarity. One thing is for certain - from stocks to agents to singing karaoke at the Super Bowl, February kept things interesting. And the year is just getting started. Legal stuff: Securities are offered by Coinbase Capital Markets (member SIPC/FINRA). Listed futures and swaps are offered via Coinbase Financial Markets ("CFM"), a NFA member firm. Trading involves risk and may result in loss of capital. Research before trading. Stocks and Prediction Markets rollout has begun; coming soon to all U.S. users. For informational purposes only.
