4) Evidence a) So what was the evidence by which he was indicted, arrested, extradited, convicted, and sentenced? b) The government found a machine gun. It even had his name on it! (It was a ceremonial gift from a gun manufacturer to the then-President. It was never used in any illegal activities. Or any legal ones, for that matter—after it was presented, it took up permanent residence in the armory of their equivalent of the Secret Service.) c) They also found a photo, taken outside of a fútbol stadium! (After a match, a fan who turned out to be related to a cartel took a selfie with him. To be clear, there was no cocaine in this selfie.) d) There was the Denny's Incident, in which his brother, Tony, refused a bribe. (It was an attempted DEA sting. They ended up arresting Tony anyway, because, you know, if a guy refuses a bribe, that's basically halfway to accepting one!) e) There was the Runway Meeting, in which his sister refused a bribe. (A few years later, her helicopter was sabotaged; she died in the crash.) f) They didn't find any cocaine in his pocket. Or his house, or anywhere else. Or any cocaine that was ever anywhere near him. Or any records of there being any cocaine near him. Or any trafficking money. Or any incriminating messages to or from him. The evidence that President Hernández was the kingpin of a billion dollar cocaine empire was the machine gun and the selfie and the time his brother refused a bribe and the time his sister refused a bribe. g) So why was he arrested?
