Beneficial AGI Summit Hackathon: Building Toward a Decentralized and Ethical Future for AI October continues the ASI journey toward uniting intelligence, ethics, and open collaboration through the Beneficial AGI Summit Hackathon, an event designed to empower builders who are shaping the future of decentralized artificial general intelligence. The ASI Alliance’s vision brings together both technological progress and cultivating a new generation of developers who understand that creating truly beneficial AGI requires both advanced tools and philosophical grounding. This hackathon is part of that mission. It’s an invitation to explore the foundations of symbolic reasoning, decentralized architecture, and transparent AI governance using the Alliance’s open technologies, from MeTTa and uAgents to the emerging ASI Chain infrastructure. By building within this shared ecosystem, participants not only gain technical fluency but also become contributors to a larger movement that prioritizes human alignment, pluralism, and transparency in AGI design. Visit the BGI hackathon website to learn more. Hackathon Overview Dates: October 14–25, 2025 Prize Pool: $5,000 - Cudos Compute Credits for Developers - Special Developer Bonus 1st Place - $750 - 4 Winners One winner per track 2nd Place - $500 - 4 Winners One winner per track Format: Hybrid – In-person activations in Istanbul with global online participation Partners: Fetch.ai Innovation Lab, SingularityNET, CUDOS, Wada, Beyondthecode.ai Empowering Builders with Decentralized AGI Infrastructure Participants will gain direct access to ASI’s modular tech stack: MeTTa: The symbolic reasoning engine at the heart of ASI Chain, enabling machines to reason, explain, and build contextual understanding. uAgents: Fetch.ai’s framework for building interoperable AI agents capable of communication and negotiation across networks. ASI:One: A conversational and discovery interface where agents can be queried and connected for complex reasoning tasks. Agentverse: A registry and orchestration layer for publishing and coordinating agentic intelligence. These technologies form the backbone of ASI Chain’s vision for autonomous, transparent, and human-aligned intelligence; a vision that this hackathon brings to life through real-world applications. Judges Dr. Ben Goertzel – CEO of SingularityNET Ibby Benali – Developer Relations & Ecosystem Marketing Lead at ASI Alliance Guillermo Lucero – Senior Project Manager, LatAm Community Lead for SingularityNET and the ASI Alliance Nefertiti Angelica Strong – Co-founder of Beyond The Code and XR Agency Sam – Representative from Wada.org Saskia Betz – Co-founder of Beyond The Code and XR Agency Vincent – Founder of Adamur BASIX Partners Janie – Co-founder of Adamur BASIX Partners Luke Gniwecki – Head of AI Compute Product at CUDOS Kshipra Dhame – Senior Developer Advocate at Fetch.ai Wendwossen Dufera – Machine Learning Engineer at iCog Labs Nahom Senay – Machine Learning Engineer at iCog Labs The Four Challenge Themes AGI + Cultural Memory Challenge: Build systems that preserve, translate, and contextualize indigenous knowledge and oral traditions. Use symbolic approaches with MeTTa and advanced language tools to capture meaning that statistical systems typically miss. Why it matters: Most AI is trained on English-centric data. To avoid cultural erasure, AGI must embed pluralism at the level of data, reasoning, and interfaces. Explainable AI for Civic Decision-Making Challenge: Create symbolic or hybrid models that provide layered, human-readable explanations for recommendations in governance, healthcare, education, or public resource allocation. Offer both technical depth for experts and clear summaries for communities. Why it matters: Black-box outputs erode trust. Transparent reasoning builds accountability and enables citizens to understand, contest, and improve AI-supported decisions. Decentralized News Reporting Challenge: Build a community-driven pipeline for reporting, verification, and distribution without centralized gatekeepers. Combine onchain reputation, AI-assisted verification with MeTTa or Hyperon, and incentives for citizen journalists. Why it matters: Information integrity is fragile. Decentralized reporting empowers communities, resists manipulation, and elevates trustworthy stories from the ground up. Protecting Children from AI Harm Challenge: Design protocols, agents, or tools that shield children from manipulative algorithms, data misuse, and predatory practices. Examples include privacy-preserving mediator agents, safety education tools, and decentralized data protections. Why it matters: Children’s data and attention are commodified at scale. Guardrails must be baked into decentralized AI so that young users’ rights and development are prioritized. What’s Next?
