Scores are not price-change percentages. High impact means a score of +70 or more, or -70 or less.

The term “Artificial General Intelligence” has no broadly accepted precise definition, but has multiple closely related meanings, e.g., the capacity of an engineered system to: 1) Display the same rough sort of general intelligence as humans 2)Display intelligence that is not tied to a highly-specific set of tasks 3) Generalize what it has learned, including generalization to contexts qualitatively very different than those it has seen before 4) Take a broad view, and flexibly interpret its tasks at hand in the context of the world at large and its relation thereto The lack of consensus on the definition of AGI is not necessarily a practical problem. The real question is whether the architectures pursued by Big Tech and major AI labs can support dynamic long-term memory, explicit goal systems, and the self-reflective loops needed for open-ended adaptation, and hence general intelligence. The short answer is no. But there is a path forward, one that starts with the upcoming release of a production-scale Hyperon stack...
