How we’re shaping the investment and accelerator landscape in Abu Dhabi with Beam Ventures Last December, we introduced Beam Ventures to the world. Six months in, it’s time we give an update on everything that’s been happening. To the public, we may seem to have been quiet, but behind the scenes we have been running non-stop to create a clear path forward once we get the official license in place. Join us as we guide you through the developments of the last couple of months. Slowly, then all at once When we first got in touch with the locals in Abu Dhabi, it was nothing but excitement. The energy was infectious, even across digital channels, and when we eventually set foot on what turned out to be our new home, it was nothing but positivity and smiles. However, securing an official license from a country’s regulator is no small feat, and that’s what we realized. When we got the in-principle approval, and ADGM issued their press release in December 2024, the paperwork adventure began. Hundreds, if not thousands of documents had to be prepared, signed and filed. We opened bank accounts, got an office space, and went through all the checks and balances to meet the official requirements. It’s been quite the ride, but we’re finally about to close this chapter. It’s one of those processes that feels endless at some points, but once finalized, we can hit the ground running. This can only be done, however, because of the work that we’ve been doing in parallel on both the fund, and the accelerator. Setting up shop When operating a fully licensed fund that’s aiming to raise $150M, you need people. Thus, in the past couple of months, we’ve attracted a number of really talented people to represent Beam Ventures. Whereas some of the hires have been locally, in Abu Dhabi, others came from abroad and have now relocated to the Emirate. With this new team operating locally while enjoying the support from the Beam ecosystem globally, the ingredients are there to start laying the important connections. It’s good to remember that we’re already working closely with officials at ADGM and other important parties in the region, but the size that we’re operating on requires collaborations on every single field. Therefore, in the next phase of Beam Ventures, we’re laser focused on securing deals and partnerships with the biggest brands, organizations, venues and anything in between. There’s so much potential in the region, with more and more global companies settling in the area, now more than ever is the time to dive in and talk to anyone that can contribute to our mission. Boosting the new era of founders Whereas a fund can only start its operations at full steam when the license is in, the raising has been finished and the money’s in, with the accelerator it’s a different ballgame. We’re deep in the work of setting up all of the processes, filling up the agenda and ensuring that it’s a unique experience, and not just a 1-on-1 copy of the most popular accelerator programs out there. In practice this also means that we started scouting out locations, potential mentors and workshops for the accelerator, and anything a novel company can imagine ranging from marketing, auditing, legal work and beyond. The most important thing for us, is that we really cater this program towards the blockchain industry with all of its unique capabilities. That includes a hybrid experience, where we start on-site but also do part of the program remotely. A new phase It feels like the preparation phase is coming to an end sooner rather than later. When it does, we’ll release the official website for both Beam Ventures the fund, and the accelerator, each with its own dedicated site. This will contain a ton more information about each adventure, and how you can get involved. It’s hard for us to give a definitive date, but in 2026, we’re aiming to invite the first batch of applicants for the accelerator. Stay tuned, is all we can say for now.
