World Water Day — March 22 A reflection on access, value, and the future of water. Water is one of the most abundant elements on Earth, and yet, for nearly 1 in 10 people globally, clean water remains out of reach. Today, on World Water Day, we pause to reflect on this paradox. At Lumia, we believe in building systems that make essential resources more accessible, more transparent, and more accountable. It’s part of why our CEO, Kal Ali @alt_street_bets, is proud to support @Water — a charity helping communities gain lasting access to safe water. But beyond charity, there’s something deeper to consider: Water isn’t just a resource. It’s an asset. An asset that’s undervalued, overexploited, and poorly distributed. As we look toward the future, it’s worth asking: - Can technologies like blockchain help? - What would it look like to tokenize water access? - Could smart contracts help allocate scarce water in drought-prone regions? - Can DeFi infrastructure create incentives to preserve water rather than waste it? We don’t have all the answers. But we believe asking the right questions matters. The value of water goes beyond price — it touches equity, survival, and dignity.
