FOX reporter Eleanor Terrett tweeted that the U.S. Treasury announced Rodney Hood, former chair of the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), will serve as acting Comptroller of the Currency starting today. Hood has expressed support for cryptocurrency. Notably, the OCC’s Interpretive Letter 1179 still prohibits national banks from engaging in crypto activities without prior approval, seen as the last barrier to financial institutions participating in crypto custody.
