Ethereum Foundation developer @drakefjustin just revealed his highly anticipated proposal for the "Beam Chain" at Devcon 🤯 A proposed redesign of Ethereum's consensus layer in order to achieve the final design of Ethereum. TL;DR the key points 👇 BLOCK PRODUCTION 🟢 Censorship resistance even as block building becomes more specialized and centralized - with a side helping of cross-chain atomic composability, if your rollup is based. 🟢 🌶️ Isolated validators separates the concerns of block proposing from the duty of attesting. This means increasing specialization and lower requirements for home stakers. 🔴 Faster slots. Just reduce block times. STAKING 🟢🌶️ Improve the ETH issuance curve by capping the amount of ETH that can be staked. 🟢 32 ETH is a lot. What if you could solo stake with just 1 ETH? 🔴 Casper FFG and LMD GHOST are showing their age as consensus mechanisms. Replace them with something that can achieve finality faster and with less work. Ideally this would be single slot, but even just removing the breakdown of epochs into slots (blocks) would be a big improvement. CRYPTOGRAPHY 🔴 Use ZK techniques to prove the Beam Chain state transition function. This means that light clients won't need to rely on the sync committee to get a trustless view of the blockchain. It would also improve sync times. 🔴 Replace the bribery-prone RANDAO randomness oracle with a state-of-the-art verifiable delay function (VDF)/ Here's 0x Smart Contract Lead @duncancmt 🧠 with the full breakdown👇
