Treasury announced larger bond buybacks on August 19, and the 10-year yield dipped to 4.65%. Within two days it was back above where it started, and it kept climbing through the Fed's September hike to a 24-year high this week. Solid auction demand has since eased it back toward 5.2%. Buybacks help steady trading, and buyers decide the price of long-term money.

At Token2049 in Singapore, the floors no longer carried the old energy of cat-ear headsets, spandex, and meme-laden hoodies. Bankers, asset managers, and executives from established firms moved among founders and protocol teams, the quieter dress code signaling a broader realignment. What once represented cultural rejection now looks like institutional arrival—Wall Street has stopped treating digital assets as an external curiosity and begun integrating them into its operating system. This is more than aesthetics. Crypto’s earlier identity was deliberately anti-establishment: permissionless, resistant to hierarchy, and skeptical of traditional finance. Its visual language reflected the belief that money and settlement could operate beyond banks, clearinghouses, and regulators. Spot Bitcoin ETFs have attracted tens of billions in cumulative flows, with BlackRock’s IBIT becoming a standard portfolio allocation. Institutions that weathered the drawdown from late 2025 into mid-2026 largely maintained or increased exposure, treating weakness as an accumulation opportunity. Allocations remain modest, typically one to two percent, but increasingly persistent—positioned as a long-term store-of-value complement to gold rather than pure speculation. Tokenized equities and real-world assets have also expanded across formerly crypto-native platforms. Wall Street’s posture is pragmatic. High yields and renewed Federal Reserve rate hikes did not prevent digital assets from reclaiming the $3 trillion market-cap threshold or delivering a strong quarterly recovery in 2026. ETF inflows during August and September turned year-to-date figures positive, largely driven by regulated investment vehicles. CME booths and banking sessions at industry conferences have become ordinary channels for distribution and risk management. Tokenization of equities, commodities, and credit is increasingly discussed alongside custody, prime brokerage, and collateral eligibility. Infrastructure is being designed around institutional volume, reliability, and compliance rather than experimentation alone. What began as an alternative financial ecosystem is becoming mainstream market infrastructure, with traditional institutions shaping how capital moves through the space. Yet this transition carries tension. Crypto’s original promise was not merely faster settlement or tokenized assets; it was an architecture of trust that could make intermediaries optional. Institutional participation makes digital assets investable at scale, but reintroduces gatekeeping and coordination costs the technology sought to reduce. As banks and asset managers become primary distribution channels, permissionless infrastructure may survive in code while economic value concentrates in regulated products. Price discovery and capital allocation still occur on-chain, yet the marginal dollar increasingly arrives through structures governed by securities laws, fiduciary standards, and balance-sheet constraints. The result is a hybrid model: open protocols underneath, closed institutional channels above. This structure can scale beyond crypto-native experimentation, but risks diluting the original vision. For Wall Street, the adaptation is continuous. Equities and fixed income absorbed electronic trading and quantitative strategies without abandoning their institutional character; digital assets appear to be following a similar path. However, crypto’s volatility, continuous trading, and composability demand faster operational change. Real-time collateral management, programmable settlement, and on-chain transparency are increasingly viewed as advantages rather than threats. Firms that once dismissed the sector now evaluate it as another asset class with distinct liquidity, correlation, and custody characteristics. Cultural signaling at conferences matters less than the operational shift: risk committees have models, compliance teams have playbooks, and portfolio managers have benchmarks. Crypto’s institutionalization is no longer simply about acceptance; it is about building systems capable of sustaining capital flows. What remains uncertain is whether this absorption preserves crypto’s friction-reducing advantages or introduces new fees and access controls around faster settlement. Early internet platforms underwent a comparable evolution, shedding their experimental identities to become commercial infrastructure. Many radical projects were acquired, regulated into conventional businesses, or outcompeted. Crypto’s version of that process is still unfolding. The suits at Token2049 do not prove decentralized technology has been domesticated. They demonstrate that capital allocators now consider digital assets durable enough to require professional standards. Ultimately, markets will test whether that durability rests on the underlying rails or on the institutions now wearing the suits.

Former Mt.Gox CEO Says Ledger Device Purchased From Malaysia Contained a Spy Module With a SIM Chip Despite Intact Packaging Former Mt.Gox CEO Mark Karpelès said a Ledger Nano X hardware wallet he received from Malaysia had intact shrink-wrap packaging but contained a spy module hidden where the screen padding should have been, making it difficult to spot even after opening the casing. He shared comparison photos of the original circuit board and the implant, saying such implants have evolved from hand-soldered wiring into circuit boards that are easier to mistake for original hardware. Karpelès is requesting device photos from affected users to identify similar implants and advised following Ledger's official security guidance. Ledger has not been shown to have officially confirmed the module's functionality or any connection to recent CryptoBilis customer losses.

Jeff Yan: TradFi's Speed Arms Race Is Zero-Sum — and Even Negative-Sum Hyperliquid Labs co-founder Jeff Yan @chameleon_jeff said at DAS Asia 2026 on October 7 that he does not view Hyperliquid’s priority fee mechanism as “bribery.” Its purpose, he said, is to reduce advantages from low-latency infrastructure and make genuine trading alpha more important. Yan argued that the latency race in traditional finance — involving microwave towers and transatlantic fiber cables — is fundamentally zero-sum, and sometimes even negative-sum, because it creates little meaningful value. Hyperliquid aims to use priority fees to internalize these negative externalities, allowing traders to compete more fairly without spending heavily on low-latency infrastructure.

    Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump)

This is the woman who received the Nobel Peace Prize over the Great United States of America, whose Representative, ME, settled eight Wars, and many other things. I know nothing about this woman, and neither does anyone else! In fact, to the best of my knowledge, no one ever heard of her other than the fact that she, very obviously, hates Israel. I don't know what the woman has done. I settled 8 Wars, with letters being sent from every President and Prime Minister from the countries that I helped to the Norwegian Nobel Committee, and I'm about to settle, or win, two more, Iran and, Russia/Ukraine. They're both happening at breakneck speed but, forget them, it's the 8 that I've already settled, any one of which, in particular, Pakistan and India, would be far more than necessary to win the Nobel Prize. In actuality, I should have won 8 Nobel Peace Prizes, not just 1. The 8 Wars are: Cambodia and Thailand Kosovo and Serbia The Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda Pakistan and India Israel and Iran Egypt and Ethiopia Armenia and Azerbaijan Israel and Hamas Additionally, I stopped Iran from having a Nuclear Weapon, and blowing up the entire Middle East and, ultimately, far beyond! I saved more lives than anyone in History and, as Maria Corina Machado, a truly fine person, stated to the Media when she gave me her Nobel Prize of last year, "Donald Trump settled many Wars, and deserves the Nobel Peace Prize more than any person that has ever received it." Based on my record of PEACE, a record like no one else has ever achieved, I agree! I got back all of the hostages in Israel, including the final 28, both living and dead, and worked with Hamas to do it — Nobody believed this was possible! I removed the World's Evil Dictator, Nicolas Maduro, from Venezuela, and am in the process of making Venezuela a rich Democracy. Likewise, with Iran, I stopped them from destroying Israel, the Middle East, and Europe. I am also preventing, on a constant basis, a War between South Korea and North Korea, and Japan and North Korea. Add China and Taiwan, and numerous other hot spots, which have not been involved in Wars, only because of President Donald J. Trump, and the United States of America. I am responsible for having NATO countries increase spending from 2% to 5% of GDP, creating a stronger alliance and defense, another thing that everybody said was impossible to do. I have negotiated the release, and secured the return, of more than 900 political prisoners from multiple countries in Eastern Europe. Additionally, I have brought 196 hostages HOME from captivity, from all over the World, and did it without having paid a ransom, unlike Biden and Obama who would pay Billions of Dollars. On top of it all, I have created a soon to be very prosperous Arctic. Despite all of this, the Nobel Prize was given today to a liberal person who works at the United Nations, who nobody has ever heard of. In all of the Wars that I have settled, I never spoke to the United Nations—they were of no help. The United States of America, represented by me, as your President, should have received the Nobel Peace Prize, but didn't. This is an indelible stain on Norway, one that will never be forgotten. The Nobel "Peace" Prize has been forever discredited by a handful of Radical Ideologues who are Anti-Democracy, and Enemies of Civilization! President DONALD J. TRUMP

GoPlus reminder: buy hardware wallets only from official channels → check the packaging and seal → verify authenticity and activation status on the official site. Former FTX COO: FTX's Collapse Ruined Many Lives, Yet Netflix Turned It Into a Love Story According to The Block, former FTX COO Constance Wang criticized Netflix's upcoming FTX drama, The Altruists, for distorting the facts, saying the trailer made her feel nauseous and even vomit. She said its portrayal of FTX's workplace was far removed from reality: the company had fewer than 200 employees, many of whom worked 16 to 18 hours a day, rather than indulging in a lavish lifestyle in the Bahamas. Wang also disputed the portrayal of Caroline Ellison's personality and her relationship with Sam Bankman-Fried, saying most employees only learned the two had dated after FTX went bankrupt. She criticized Netflix for turning a financial scandal that devastated many lives into a love story. The eight-episode series premieres on November 19.
