    Cardano (@Cardano)

In case you missed it, the recent Developer Spotlight is with @maxalexweber, creator of @ODATANO_V4. Coming from a background in SAP development, Max became curious about decentralized systems and started asking how Cardano could fit into the enterprise world. His answer is ODATANO, which lets SAP developers work with Cardano through OData, a standard they already know, so much of the blockchain complexity disappears. He also recorded a short message, walking you through his journey from SAP into Cardano and how it led to the creation of ODATANO. See below post for more details, and the link to the Developer Spotlight interview.🧵

If Lightning is fundamentally a BTC payment network, how do you make other assets move through it? There are several different approaches. Taproot Assets, for example, keeps BTC liquidity at the center of the network. When a user wants to send a Taproot Asset across Lightning, the asset is exchanged for BTC at the edge of the network. The payment then travels through ordinary BTC Lightning channels before being exchanged into the desired asset at the receiving edge. That means most intermediate Lightning nodes can route the payment without ever needing to support or even recognize the Taproot Asset. RGB pushes multi-asset support deeper into the route. When a user wants to send an RGB asset across Lightning, that asset can travel through RGB-enabled channels from sender to receiver without being converted into BTC along the way. The trade-off is liquidity: every channel on the chosen route must already have enough of that specific RGB asset on the forwarding side to pass the payment to the next hop. If even one channel lacks sufficient liquidity, that route cannot complete the payment. Fiber starts from a third architecture. Because CKB already supports user-defined assets at the base layer, Fiber doesn’t need to add a separate asset protocol on top of a BTC-only settlement layer. Supported CKB assets can be locked directly into Fiber channels and routed natively through the network. These are three entirely different architectural approaches to the same problem, each with different trade-offs. COTI Foundation (@COTInetwork)

Introducing COTI 2.0 Private Programmable Money COTI shifts into its next phase, with a new website to match. > http://coti.io Same foundation. Bolder vision. 1. The Vision The world's money will soon move the way information does, on open networks. But those networks are public, and nobody wants to run their finances in public. COTI is now critically tasked with changing that. Its mission is to make private programmable money the global standard, so institutions, businesses, developers and individuals can hold, move and settle value on public blockchains, confidentially. COTI exists to champion this cause. 2. The Foundation Since 2017, COTI has built the privacy technology this next phase runs on. It was the first network to run garbled circuits in production, computing directly on encrypted data so inputs stay encrypted from submission to settlement. Its institutional-grade technology has been developed across leading institutions: 1. European Central Bank 2. Bank of Israel 3. Input Output Global (IOG) 3. Privacy-on-Demand Privacy-on-Demand serves as COTI's privacy layer for other blockchains. It allows applications to keep their users and assets on their existing chain, while COTI handles the private computation. Avalanche was the first network to bring it to production. Since September 17, applications on Avalanche have been computing on confidential data, and users have been shielding AVAX and USDC through the Privacy Portal. Expansion to further networks is a core part of the roadmap. 4. New Products At the centre of COTI 2.0 are two new products, designed to keep transactions private when moving money between blockchains, and when spending it in day to day life. 1. Interphase - The flagship. It serves as the global privacy layer for moving assets between blockchains, and executing confidential, unlinked transfers across 30+ major networks. 2. COTI Global - A new central application, which allows COTI to be spent as a privacy payment rail for everything in day to day life. 5. What's Next The new website and public roadmap are the first of several major upgrades coming this month.

Vitalik Buterin: Without AI, Ethereum's Lean Roadmap Might Have to Wait Until 2040 Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin @VitalikButerin said in an October 9 interview with Balaji Srinivasan @balajis at the Network State Conference 2026 that AI has become an important factor in advancing the Lean Ethereum roadmap. Buterin said that given the roadmap's current goals and level of ambition, without AI, the work might have taken until 2040 or even 2050 to complete. He added that AI is now contributing to a significant amount of research and coding, substantially accelerating progress on the roadmap.

    Dusk (@DuskFoundation)

We just shipped 10 releases of Dusk's core cryptography. Here's the simple version of what each piece does and what just got better. → Proofs (PLONK) The engine that lets you prove something is true without revealing the details. It's how Dusk keeps transactions private and still verifiable. Creating and checking proofs is now roughly 2x faster. → Hashing (Poseidon) A digital fingerprint for data. Same input, same fingerprint, and you can't reverse it. Inside a proof, it now does the same job with about a third less work. → Merkle trees A way to prove one item is part of a huge list without showing the list. Those proofs now take a third less work, and the trees reject bad input. → Encryption (ElGamal + SAFE) What locks private data so only the right people can read it. Decrypting an encrypted number inside a proof now takes up to 84% less work. → Signatures (Schnorr + BLS) How the network knows a message really came from you. Multisig now has protection against key tricks, and checking a signature inside a proof takes 14% less work. → Curves The math the whole stack is built on. Both foundation libraries were upgraded and now reject bad input. Full breakdown in the thread ↓

Buying a Ledger from a local reseller is no different from buying one on Amazon when it comes to supply-chain risk. That should be basic risk awareness. Hardware wallet makers should put more thought into their packaging—perhaps a single-use, cryptographically verifiable seal. Ordinary shrink wrap feels too much like standard electronics packaging. The device may cost a hundred dollars. The assets it protects could be worth millions. Its security should reflect that difference.

At Token2049 in Singapore, the floors no longer carried the old energy of cat-ear headsets, spandex, and meme-laden hoodies. Bankers, asset managers, and executives from established firms moved among founders and protocol teams, the quieter dress code signaling a broader realignment. What once represented cultural rejection now looks like institutional arrival—Wall Street has stopped treating digital assets as an external curiosity and begun integrating them into its operating system. This is more than aesthetics. Crypto’s earlier identity was deliberately anti-establishment: permissionless, resistant to hierarchy, and skeptical of traditional finance. Its visual language reflected the belief that money and settlement could operate beyond banks, clearinghouses, and regulators. Spot Bitcoin ETFs have attracted tens of billions in cumulative flows, with BlackRock’s IBIT becoming a standard portfolio allocation. Institutions that weathered the drawdown from late 2025 into mid-2026 largely maintained or increased exposure, treating weakness as an accumulation opportunity. Allocations remain modest, typically one to two percent, but increasingly persistent—positioned as a long-term store-of-value complement to gold rather than pure speculation. Tokenized equities and real-world assets have also expanded across formerly crypto-native platforms. Wall Street’s posture is pragmatic. High yields and renewed Federal Reserve rate hikes did not prevent digital assets from reclaiming the $3 trillion market-cap threshold or delivering a strong quarterly recovery in 2026. ETF inflows during August and September turned year-to-date figures positive, largely driven by regulated investment vehicles. CME booths and banking sessions at industry conferences have become ordinary channels for distribution and risk management. Tokenization of equities, commodities, and credit is increasingly discussed alongside custody, prime brokerage, and collateral eligibility. Infrastructure is being designed around institutional volume, reliability, and compliance rather than experimentation alone. What began as an alternative financial ecosystem is becoming mainstream market infrastructure, with traditional institutions shaping how capital moves through the space. Yet this transition carries tension. Crypto’s original promise was not merely faster settlement or tokenized assets; it was an architecture of trust that could make intermediaries optional. Institutional participation makes digital assets investable at scale, but reintroduces gatekeeping and coordination costs the technology sought to reduce. As banks and asset managers become primary distribution channels, permissionless infrastructure may survive in code while economic value concentrates in regulated products. Price discovery and capital allocation still occur on-chain, yet the marginal dollar increasingly arrives through structures governed by securities laws, fiduciary standards, and balance-sheet constraints. The result is a hybrid model: open protocols underneath, closed institutional channels above. This structure can scale beyond crypto-native experimentation, but risks diluting the original vision. For Wall Street, the adaptation is continuous. Equities and fixed income absorbed electronic trading and quantitative strategies without abandoning their institutional character; digital assets appear to be following a similar path. However, crypto’s volatility, continuous trading, and composability demand faster operational change. Real-time collateral management, programmable settlement, and on-chain transparency are increasingly viewed as advantages rather than threats. Firms that once dismissed the sector now evaluate it as another asset class with distinct liquidity, correlation, and custody characteristics. Cultural signaling at conferences matters less than the operational shift: risk committees have models, compliance teams have playbooks, and portfolio managers have benchmarks. Crypto’s institutionalization is no longer simply about acceptance; it is about building systems capable of sustaining capital flows. What remains uncertain is whether this absorption preserves crypto’s friction-reducing advantages or introduces new fees and access controls around faster settlement. Early internet platforms underwent a comparable evolution, shedding their experimental identities to become commercial infrastructure. Many radical projects were acquired, regulated into conventional businesses, or outcompeted. Crypto’s version of that process is still unfolding. The suits at Token2049 do not prove decentralized technology has been domesticated. They demonstrate that capital allocators now consider digital assets durable enough to require professional standards. Ultimately, markets will test whether that durability rests on the underlying rails or on the institutions now wearing the suits.
