Morgan Stanley Pushes Tokenized Equity Support to Q1 2027 According to The Block, Morgan Stanley now expects to support tokenized equities on its alternative trading system in Q1 2027, later than its previous H2 2026 timeline, digital asset strategy head Amy Oldenburg said. She said the bank is still preparing the required infrastructure, while client demand remains limited because tokenized equity products are not yet widely available. Oldenburg also said she expects the tokenized RWA market to reach $3 trillion to $10 trillion by 2030.

Stablecoin Payments for PSPs in APAC: The 2026 Guide Stablecoin payments in APAC have moved from pilot conversations to regulated reality. Hong Kong has licensed its first stablecoin issuers. Singapore has published draft legislation to put its stablecoin framework into law. Japan has a regulated yen stablecoin in circulation, and Australia is folding stablecoins into its payments licensing overhaul. For payment service providers across the region, that changes the question. It's no longer whether stablecoins will show up at checkout, but how to support them without a bespoke build, a new compliance stack, or new operational risk. This guide covers what's driving demand, what a stablecoin payment method actually involves for a PSP, how the main APAC markets differ, and how to get from interest to a live integration. Why APAC PSPs are looking at stablecoins now Regulation has caught up For years, the honest answer to "can we offer stablecoin payments here?" was "it depends, and nobody's sure." That's changing fast. Hong Kong's Stablecoins Ordinance took effect in August 2025 and the first issuer licenses followed in April 2026. The Monetary Authority of Singapore published draft amendments to the Payment Services Act in September 2026 to bring its single-currency stablecoin framework into force. Clear rules for issuers make it far easier for PSPs, acquirers and merchants to plan around stablecoins as a mainstream payment method. We break this down market by market in Stablecoin Regulation in APAC 2026. Merchants want to reach customers they can't reach today Stablecoin and crypto holders are a global audience, and many of them prefer to pay with the balances they already hold. For merchants selling across borders, whether in travel, gaming, digital goods or ecommerce, accepting stablecoin opens a customer base that cards and local wallets don't always serve well. Settlement is still a pain point Cross-border merchant settlement across APAC often involves multiple currencies, correspondent banking hops, and settlement windows that pause on weekends and public holidays. Stablecoins settle onchain in seconds, around the clock. For merchants managing cash flow across several markets, that matters. Merchants will ask, and PSPs need an answer When a merchant asks their PSP whether they can accept stablecoin, "not yet" invites them to look elsewhere. PSPs that can switch it on as another payment method keep that merchant, and that volume, on their platform. What a stablecoin payment method involves for a PSP Accepting stablecoin isn't one feature. It's five things that have to work together. 1. Wallet and exchange coverage. Customers hold stablecoins across hundreds of wallets and exchange accounts, on many chains. If your checkout only supports a handful, most customers can't pay. Coverage is the difference between a pilot and a real payment method. 2. Routing and gas. Customers want to pay with whatever they hold. Merchants want to receive one specific token, or fiat. Something has to sit in between: sponsoring network fees so the customer doesn't need a second token to pay, and routing the payment so the merchant receives what they chose. 3. Settlement. Some merchants want to hold stablecoin. Most want fiat in their bank account. A usable payment method supports both, so each merchant can pick. 4. Reconciliation. Finance teams need clean payment data for every transaction: amount, token, chain, status and a reference that maps back to the order. Without it, stablecoin payments become a manual reconciliation problem. 5. Compliance. Sanctions screening, geolocation and IP checks, and Travel Rule data capture where it applies. This is usually the part that stalls stablecoin projects at PSPs, because building it from scratch is slow and risky Build vs integrate For most PSPs, the build path makes sense only if stablecoin infrastructure is itself the product. If the goal is giving merchants another payment method, integrating is faster and carries less operational risk. How the main APAC markets differ This is a summary, not legal advice. Always confirm local requirements with counsel. Where WalletConnect Pay fits WalletConnect Pay lets PSPs offer stablecoin payments to their merchants through a single, APM-style integration that fits the stack they already run. One integration, the largest network. Accept from 700+ wallets and major exchange accounts across every major chain, reaching 900M+ users, with no new workflows. In-store and online. In-store by tap-to-pay, QR code, or payment link. Online by QR code or payment link, dropping into your existing checkout. Pay with anything, receive what you want. Customers pay with any asset from any wallet. Gas is sponsored, and payments are smart-routed, so the merchant receives the token they choose. Instant settlement, lower cost. Settle in stablecoin in seconds, or in fiat via a regulated partner, at lower acceptance cost than card networks. Compliance built in. Sanctions and IP screening and Travel Rule capture run on every payment, in formats your existing controls already read. WalletConnect has been building the network since 2018, and it powered $400B+ in transaction volume in 2025. Getting started: a checklist for PSP product teams Identify the merchant segments most likely to want stablecoin first, such as cross-border ecommerce, travel, gaming and digital goods. Decide on settlement options: stablecoin, fiat, or merchant choice. Map your compliance obligations by market and confirm what needs to be captured in the payment flow. Check how stablecoin will appear in your merchant dashboard, reporting and reconciliation. Choose build or integrate, then scope the integration with your engineering team. Pilot with a small group of merchants before a wider rollout. FAQ What is a stablecoin payment? A payment made with a digital token designed to hold a stable value against a currency such as the US dollar. It settles onchain rather than through card networks or bank transfers. Do merchants have to hold crypto? No. Merchants can choose to receive stablecoin or have payments settled in fiat to their bank account through a regulated partner. Can PSPs in APAC offer stablecoin payments compliantly? In many markets, yes, but requirements differ. Sanctions screening, IP checks, and Travel Rule data capture, where it applies, should be part of the payment flow. Is it cheaper than cards? Stablecoin acceptance typically costs less than card networks, and settlement is instant and final. How long does integration take? It depends on your stack. An APM-style integration plugs into existing checkout and merchant onboarding flows, so you're adding a payment method rather than rebuilding your platform.
